Plymouth nips New Prairie in regular-season closer
On Tuesday night, Plymouth hosted New Prairie in a battle of one-loss squads. The Rockies came out on top 29-25 in a thriller at The Rock.
Eric Humphery and Corey Wallace both recorded pinfall wins, and Triston Rodriguez earned a major decision at 132.
Other winners for Plymouth were Osman Solis, Cody Allmon, Kam Markovich, Bodie Neidig, Drew Dodson by DQ, and Aaron Houin by a narrow 3-2 decision in extra time.

LaVille teams sweep Bremen at Dale E. Cox Gym

LAKEVILLE — Fifteen proved to be something of a magic number for LaVille’s basketball teams Tuesday.
The Lancers’ girls and boys squads surrendered a mere 15 points apiece in the second half and collected a pair of double-digit victories over Bremen in the TCU Bi-County Tournament opening round at LaVille’s Dale E. Cox Gymnasium.
In the nightcap, junior guard Blake Berger erupted for a game-high 26 points, and senior guard Cameron Gurtner added 16 points to lead the Lancers to a 56-38 win over the Lions.

Falcons earn split with Cavs

WALKERTON — Halftime adjustments made all the difference in a pair of thrillers between John Glenn and Culver in their first-round TCU Bi-County match-ups Tuesday night at The Aerie.
The Lady Cavaliers’ switch to a man defense in the second half allowed them to rally to a narrow 45-44 win, while in the nightcap, the Falcons sped up the tempo after the break to grab a last-second 51-49 victory over the Cavs.

In the first half, Glenn discovered it didn’t match up very well with Trent Elliott, Jacoda Anderson and the rest of the Cavs lineup in the halfcourt.

Dragons and OD split

ARGOS — The Argos Dragons and the Oregon-Davis Bobcats split in the opening round matchup of the Bi-County Tournament. The Lady Bobcats took out the Lady Dragons on their home floor with a final score of 84-37 and advance to the second round. The Argos boys came away with a 35-32 win over the Bobcats in a nail biter.

Trojans win both openers at New Prairie

NEW CARLISLE – Triton’s boys and girls basketball teams earned a sweep over New Prairie on the road in New Carlisle Tuesday night.
The girls rallied with a 22-point fourth quarter to hand the Lady Cougars a 55-49 defeat, while the Trojans reprised an earlier loss to the Cougars with a convincing 57-40 victory.

Triton senior guard Tanner Shepherd dropped 35 points and put in a strong defensive performance as the Trojans claimed a 64-56 NSC win in a back-and-forth game at Culver Friday.

King's Jewelry Female Athlete of the Week Hannah Herbster

LaVille senior forward Hannah Herbster scored a team-best 17 points — including a pair of clutch free throws down the stretch — as the Lady Lancers earned an NSC win over Knox, 47-43 Friday night.

Rockies dominate Concord, 68-6

PLYMOUTH — Two weeks ago, Plymouth’s wrestling team just missed out on a Rochester Invitational championship due to a little trouble finishing.
No such trouble at Thursday night’s Northern Lakes Conference dual meet closer with Concord.
The Rockies looked strong at the finish. Of course they weren’t too shabby at the start, or anywhere in between for that matter.

Triton golf coach Carpenter receives NFHS coaching award

BOURBON — Triton High School Boys and Girls Golf Coach Jack Carpenter was selected to receive the National Federation of State High School Associations 2013 Central Sectional Coach of the Year award for Boys Golf.
Earlier in the year, Carpenter received the Boys Golf Coach of the Year for the state of Indiana. Because of this prestigious award, he was a candidate for the NFHS National Coach of the Year. The NFHS recognizes coaches at the state, sectional, and national level.
