PLYMOUTH – The Ancilla College Golf Classic has sold out for the fifth year in a row with a full field of 40 teams, but the college is still looking for sponsors, Ancilla announced Tuesday.
“We work hard to put together a top-notch golf outing that everyone will enjoy,” said event organizer Tom Sibal.  “Businesses in the area are very generous and make it possible for Ancilla College to put on a tournament that has everyone going home happy, no matter how they play.”

Big inning proves the nemesis for Plymouth

April 30, 2013

PLYMOUTH — The woes of the big inning continued to haunt Plymouth’s Pilgrims Monday night as they dropped an NLC battle with Northridge by a 9-5 final.
The Pilgrims battled back after a two-run Northridge first to take a 4-2 lead on a three-run Bailey Clark homer in the Plymouth half of the inning. Plymouth added another in the third on a Clark sac fly to make it 5-3.
Then the bottom fell out.

Falcons shut out Knox

April 30, 2013

KNOX — John Glenn traveled to Knox Monday night and dismantled the Redskins in five innings by a 10-0 score.
Glenn’s Justin Gierlowski threw his second no-hitter of the season and recorded his third double-digit strikeout game with 10 ks. With his offspeed pitches setting up his fastball, Gierlowski controlled the game. But it was a one-out walk to Knox’s Scott Trojan in the fifth that ruined his perfect game.

Carpenter, Trojans win Marshall Co. Meet

April 29, 2013

CULVER — Whatever a player’s score on the front side at Mystic, he can usually count on adding a few stokes on the course’s hilly back nine. Triton’s Quentyn Carpenter shaved one.
Carpenter entered the turn trailing fellow top flighter Trent Elliott of Culver Community as well as teammate Ryan Rapp and Cam Gurtner of LaVille by a stroke, but he birdied the 12th and 13th to move into the lead, then followed a bogey on the 15th with par golf over the final three holes to reclaim the individual Marshall County Golf Championship with an even-par 71 Saturday.
