No ‘W’ but moral victory for Lady Pilgrims at Bremen

April 10, 2013

BREMEN — It wasn’t a win, but you could call Tuesday’s softball game at Bremen a moral victory for Plymouth.
After opening the season with three straight shutouts, the Lady Pilgrims were finally able to get on the scoreboard Tuesday. Plymouth scratched out three runs in the fifth and sixth innings to cut its deficit in half after a fast start by the host Lady Lions, but back-to-back triples during a four-run sixth proved to be the backbreaker as the Lions downed the visitors, 10-3.

ROCHESTER — Gale force winds don’t usually mean good news — unless you’re a pitcher.
Four pitchers found that out at Rochester on Tuesday night as the winds howled and the Zebras (5-1) and Plymouth Pilgrims (1-2) battled to a 2-1 final in a game that saw just four hits. It was a night of the pitcher.

Glenn responds after 1st loss, trumps Zebras in 8 at Rochester DH

April 8, 2013

WALKERTON — The John Glenn baseball team answered back from its first loss of the season with an eight-inning win in a doubleheader versus Rochester Saturday.
The Falcons succumbed 7-3 in the opener but battled back for a narrow 9-8 win in an extra-inning second game to earn the split.
“We always play a spirited doubleheader with John Glenn,” said Rochester baseball coach Bryan Hooker. “Year in and year out it seems like we split. Every season this is a good way to gauge our teams with this doubleheader. I hope we continue this for a long time.”
