CULVER â The victim of a 4th of July drowning at the public beach on Lake Maxinkuckee has been identified as Jose Cruz Lizcano, age 27.
Sonar technology was used by Indiana Conservation officers in the search Friday evening, after Lizcano's friends did not notice his absence for around four hours.
The drowning is the second in two years at the town beach in Culver, with last year's drowning of a 22-year old Plymouth man taking place just over a week from one year ago (that incident took place July 13, 2013).

Born in Plymouth on Dec. 28, 1922 Faye was the treasured daughter of Clark A and Elsie Ruth Lozier Reed. With great DragonÂ pride Faye graduated with her class, from Argos High School in 1940.Â
Donald R. Atkins

BRADENTON, Fla. â Donald R. Atkins, 72, of Bradenton, Fla., formerly of Plymouth, passed away June 19, 2014 after an eight-month battle with cancer.
He was the former owner of Plymouth Optical Service in Plymouth, but had lived in Bradenton for the past 12 years.
He leaves his wife, Rhoda, of 29 years, two daughters, Denise (Tom) Bell of Owensboro, Ky. and Deanne (Jim) Quissell of Plymouth, and a son Jeff (Shannen) Auker of Ft. Wayne.
Also surviving are a brother, Tom (Linda) Atkins of Plymouth and a sister, Lynette (Larry) Rusk of South Bend.

ROCHESTER â Faye Menser, 91, of Rochester died at 1:25 a.m. July 2, 2014, at Life Care Center, Rochester. Arrangements are pending at the Good Family Funeral Home, Rochester.

PLYMOUTH â the board of Zoning Appeals approved three variance related to the planned construction of new tennis courts in Centennial Park.
The variances reduces the size of parking spots allocated at the site, eliminates the parking lot islands and gets rid of the requirement to plant trees in the parking area.
The board also approved two other applications from a property owner and business in their Tuesday night meeting.

MARSHALL COUNTY â Late Wednesday afternoon the National Weather Service (NWS) completed their survey of the early morning storms. The report confirmed two tornado in Marshall County.
The first tornado registered as an EF-0 with wind peaks of 80 mph. Its path covered a track of 1.3 miles and was approximately 50 yards across. The touch down occurred at 12:40 a.m. just south of the Lear Corporation two miles west/northwest of Plymouth.

PLYMOUTH â Francis T. âFrankâ Kennedy, 76, and a Plymouth resident for over 20 years, passed away at 1:30 a.m. on Monday, June 30, 2014 at the Saint Joseph Regional Medical Center, Plymouth Campus.
Born in Chicago, Ill. on July 4, 1937. After graduation from high school, Frank enlisted into the U.S. Air Force. He was honorably discharged on Sept. 16, 1962.
Frank married Arlene I. Streb in Midlothian, Ill. on March 8, 1985. After the couple moved to Plymouth, Frank continued as a self-employed handyman, serving in the local areas.
Teresa âTerriâ Mattke

PLYMOUTH â Teresa (Terri) L. Mattke, 60, of Plymouth, passed away Friday, June 27, 2014, at 4:25 p.m., at her home, with her family by her side.
Terri was born on May 19, 1954, in Plymouth, to Marion and Fern (Keyser) Carter. Teresa and Craig J. Mattke were married on Sept. 27, 1970, by James Yeazel. They had their vows blessed on their fifth anniversary at Saint Michael Catholic Church. Terri worked in the retail business for 20 years, then at BCI, as a Quality Control Inspector, for 14 years.
