Lions win regional battle of unbeatens, 35-21

VALPARAISO — Ethan Pike may never have played high school football before this year, but the junior wide receiver played like a seasoned vet Friday night.
Pike finished with two touchdown receptions totaling 28 yards in Bremen’s regional battle of unbeatens versus Wheeler, his first a 10-yarder that put the Lions on the board at the 3:31 mark of the first quarter and his second a heady 18-yarder off a tip from Bearcats defensive back Derek Hartwig with just 3.4 seconds remaining in the first half to give Bremen its final lead of the night.

Midtown Men's `60s sounds, art gallery on tap in Culver Monday

Culver Academies' Huffington Concert Series continues Monday evening with the Midtown Men, four members of the original cast of Broadway’s "Jersey Boys," live onstage at Eppley Auditorium, starting at 7:30 p.m.

While "The Jersey Boys" was centered on its stars' portrayals of the 1960s Motown group the Four Seasons, Midtown Men will offer a broader, but similar sampling of 1960s fare to the audience, ranging from Motown hits to the Beatles, the Beach Boys to the Mamas and the Papas, "a journey through all the iconic groups of the '60s," member Daniel Reichard told one media source.

Authors of Culver Girls Academy history book, dean lead museum event Nov. 16

As it continues its year-long celebration of the 40th anniversary of the Culver Girls Academy (formerly Culver Academy for Girls), the Culver Academies Museum & Gift Shop, located at 102 S. Main Street in downtown Culver, will host the authors of the upcoming, "Voices of CGA: A History of Culver Girls Academy," the very first book to chronicle the history of the school.

Warm Up Marshall County coat distribution is this weekend

PLYMOUTH — Between 600 and 800 coats are available at the National Guard Armory Saturday, from 10 a.m. to noon; and Sunday, from noon to 2 p.m. Parents are asked to bring their children needing coats with them so the coats can be tried on. Also available are gloves and hats.

PLYMOUTH — It took Plymouth leading returning scorer Amber Redinger about three quarters to get going.
When she started to find a groove, it helped push the Lady Pilgrims over the top.
Redinger scored six of her 10 points in the fourth quarter, including the game-winning bucket from the low post on an entry pass from Marissa German at the buzzer to clinch Plymouth a 31-29 season-opening win over visiting Peru in a nip-tuck game Thursday at The Rock.

VanDerWeele and Argos rally past John Glenn, 41-39

WALKERTON — Argos’ girls basketball team needed something, anything, to get on track offensively in the fourth quarter Thursday at John Glenn.
Karlee VanDerWeele delivered.
The Argos junior forward drained a crucial 3-pointer with 5:21 left in the game to accelerate a game-changing 11-0 run as the Dragons withstood a 22-point outburst from Glenn freshman Kyler Columbia, and clawed out a 41-39 come-from-behind season-opening win at The Aerie.

New sexual abuse lawsuit filed against USA Swimming and Indiana Swimming

INDIANAPOLIS — A lawsuit has been filed against USA Swimming, Indiana Swimming and the Metropolitan School District of Lawrence Township (Marion County, Indiana Superior Court) for their failure to take action on complaints made about their certified swim coach, Christopher Wheat, and for sexual abuse and assault against a then 14-year old female swimmer that resulted from that inaction.
