ARGOS — Elizabeth “Betty” Anne Castleman, 81, of 17068 Oak Road, Argos, died Feb. 19, 2012 at 3:05 a.m. at Miller’s Merry Manor – Culver following a lengthy illness.
She was born Aug. 3, 1930 in Argos to Frank Orange Cowen and Hallie Belle Lowry. She lived all of her life in the Argos community.
Aug. 28, 1949 she married Rex P. Castleman at Poplar Grove United Methodist Church, Culver.
She worked as a switchboard operator for the Argos Telephone Company, then went to work at the State Exchange Bank in Culver for 21 years.

PLYMOUTH — Jean L. Langdon, 81, a lifetime Plymouth resident, passed away Friday evening, Feb. 17, 2012 in the Greencroft Healthcare facility in Goshen.
Born in Plymouth Feb. 3, 1931, Jean was the daughter of Clarence and Ruth (Beyler) Beals.
Jean will be remembered by her smile and unwavering love for her family.
She had a long, wonderful life, well-lived. She knew, and her family knows, that she is whole again and with Jesus in paradise.

BOURBON — Herbert G. Baker, 86, of Bourbon, passed away unexpectedly Sunday, Feb. 19, 2012 at 9:44 p.m. at home of natural causes.

Pilgrims ‘reserve’ a win at Glenn

WALKERTON — Plymouth’s reserves have been a team strength all season long.
On Tuesday, they were the difference.
Plymouth went seven deep off the bench, the Pilgrim reserves put up 38 points with two players in double figures, and the visitors wore down John Glenn in the second half for a 74-60 regular-season-closing victory over their Sectional 19 foes on the road at The Aerie.

LaVille beats OD
Oregon-Davis closed its regular season with a 69-37 loss to visiting LaVille Tuesday.
Andrew Hostetler put up a game-high 20 points in the win, while Nick Amor had 13, Jordyn Williams and Justin Baker each finished with 10, and Cameron Gurtner recorded nine points for balanced LaVille.
OD was led by seven points each from Craig McIntosh and Nolan Coffin as the Bobcats were held to a combined eight points in the second and third quarters.
OD closes the regular season at 4-15 and will open Sectional 51 play at Triton against the host Trojans next Tuesday.

3 injured in crash at Oak, Jefferson

PLYMOUTH — Lorraine Hoke of Plymouth, was uninjured when the car she was driving was involved in a crash with Phillip Boyd, of Marion, Tuesday around 11:15 a.m. at Oak Road and Jefferson Street in Plymouth.
Reports Plymouth Police Officer Mark Owen, Boyd had three passengers that were injured, but none appeared to be life-threatening.

Pick-up hauling cattle crashes under semi

February 21, 2012

A pick-up truck with Michigan plates carrying several cattle crashed into a semi at the U.S. 6 and 31 intersection in LaPaz just before noon today.
The semi driver was uninjured and the pick-up driver was flown from the scene via Medflight for his injuries. LaPaz-North Township fire captain Matt Haskins said the driver of the pick-up was conscious and talking, but had injuries to his extremities. Find detailed information in tomorrow's Pilot News.

Teen remains in critical but stable condition

PLYMOUTH — Austin Schoff, 18, remains in critical but stable condition today.
The teen was flown to South Bend after being hit by a car in the 10000 block of Michigan Road around 7:30 p.m. Friday.
The Marshall County Sheriff's Department reported Lauren Tanner, 17, was driving north on Michigan Road near 11th Road in a 2009 Suburban, when she suddenly saw Schoff — who she said was wearing dark clothing — walking near the edge of the road and hit him.

PLYMOUTH — Cheryl Lynnae “Sherry” Milner, 63, a lifetime resident of Plymouth, died following a long suffering illness, in St. Joseph Regional Medical Center, Plymouth, at 3:46 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 18, 2012.
Cheryl was born in Logansport Sept. 22, 1948. She was the daughter of Joseph W. and Gladys E. (Zumbaugh) Emrah. She attended West High School in Marshall County. June 23, 1989, in Plymouth, Sherry and Daniel R. Milner were married.
