PLYMOUTH â€”Â Carol J. Leedy, 65, loving wife of Stan Leedy, passed away at home April 11, 2012 after a short battle with cancer.
She was preceded in death by her father, Dalton A. Griffith and beloved niece, Laura Griffith.
PLYMOUTH â€” Any win over a sectional opponent is a good win, and Plymouth bounced back from a tough loss to Valparaiso Monday with a 4-1 win over sectional rival Bremen at home Thursday.
The Lady Pilgrims won on all courts except 1 singles and in straight sets at three of the other four flights to claim its second win of the season.
PLYMOUTH â€” Plymouth starting pitcher Marissa Sullivan was in the zone last nightâ€¦ the strike zone that is.
The Lady Pilgrim right hander allowed only one hit and two walks to go along with 16 strikeouts in a 3-2 win over the visiting John Glenn Falcons.
Sullivan struck out the side in the first two innings of the game, allowing only one Falcon to reach base safely by a fielding error. She struck out the side two more times in the game, once in the fourth and again in the seventh inning to seal the win for Plymouth.
Plymouth loses NLC meet at Wawasee
Plymouth lost a 93-39 dual Northern Lakes Conference meet on the road at Wawasee Thursday.
Plymouth went one-two in the 3200 relay as Matt Lee, Diego Ibarra, Austin Rose and Mason Reed combined for an 11:24.59, and Stephen Abair, Kennedy Schnieders, Richie Sutch and Andrew Gerard clocked an 11:47.63.
The Pilgrims scored another win in the 1600 relay where Lee, Michael Hartman Reed and Elliot Eads turned in a time of 3:44.83.
PLYMOUTH â€” Youth Leadership Marshall County students will be holding a car wash/bake sale fundraiser at Oliver Ford in Plymouth Saturday. The students will wash cars for $5 and sell baked goods for $5 each. Pulled pork from Log House Restaurant and Zentis Jam will also be on sale. All proceeds will go toward the Marshall County Humane Society and the Heminger House. The fundraiser is the YLMC's community service project.
PLYMOUTH â€” Plymouth police units were dispatched to Plum and Harrison Streets Wednesday just after 5 p.m. Cory T. Berger, of Merrillville, failed to yield to Carolina Mendez, of Plymouth, who had the right of way traveling east on Harrison Street. Berger hit Mendez, causing Mendez to hit a residence. Two passengers in Mendez's vehicle were injured, and one was transported by medflight to Memorial Hospital in South Bend. Berger was given a chemical test at St.
PLYMOUTH â€” Rick Cooper, Jr., the Plymouth resident who won $2 million from a scratch-off lottery ticket in January, is combining his love of poker and his new-found riches in order to give back to his community.
Cooper is hosting a poker tournament at the Plymouth Eagles Club Saturday, and part of the proceeds will go toward the Eaglesâ€™ fund to purchase a critical care transport for Riley Hospital for Children.

WATERVLIET, Mich. â€”Â Elaine Sandra McVicker, age 56 years of Summit Drive, Watervliet, Mich. died at 3:10 p.m. Easter Sunday, April 8, 2012 at Watervliet Community Hospital unexpectedly but of natural causes.
She was born Dec. 14, 1955 in Knox to Dewey Otto and Pauline Veronica (Nauseda) McVicker. She attended school in Leiterâ€™s Ford and has lived in Watervliet, Mich. for many years.

BREMEN â€”Â Fern Iris Yoder, 93, of 1683 Plymouth-Goshen Trail, Bremen, died at 9:25 p.m., Monday, April 9, 2012 at Bremen Community Hospital.
Surviving are sons, Roland (Rita) Yoder, Howard (Laurie) Yoder, and James (Sandra) Yoder, all of Bremen; a daughter, Marilyn (Dennis) Easton, Osceola; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; brothers, Charles (Edna) Goss Jr., Matuhn, Ill., Melvin (Janice) Goss, Nappanee; and sisters, Naomi (Wayne) Weldy, Winona Lake, and Pearl (Carlyle) Chupp, Nappanee.
