PLYMOUTH â Slow but sure wins the race, but that doesnât make it any easier to wait.
âItâs really kind of a strange thing this year but for whatever reason many of the campaigns are running late this year,â said Jennifer Maddox, Executive Director of United Way of Marshall County. âIâm optimistic that weâre going to reach our goal but we wonât have final numbers for awhile yet because so many businesses havenât completed their drives.â
One local company has been âin the clubhouseâ on their drive for quite awhile. Not only was it a quick one, it was a big success.
Clinton 'Bud' Crull

ROCHESTER â Clinton âBudâ Crull, 76, of Rochester, died at 1:41 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 15, 2010 at Woodlawn Hospital.
He is survived by a daughter, Angel Crull of Leiters Ford; two sons, Nathan Crull of Leiters Ford and John âChewyâ Crull, and wife Debbie, of Leiters Ford; seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; a sister, Patsy Daley, and husband John, of Forida; and a brother, Charles Crull, and wife Mary Jo, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
Private family services will be held.Â
 Arrangements have been entrusted to the Good Family Funeral Home.
PLYMOUTH â What should have been an enjoyable Senior Night for the Plymouth wrestlers quickly turned sour as the Northwood Panthers jumped out to an early lead.
The Rockies rebounded to make things interesting, but couldnât quite cinch the pinfall they needed at the end, and the Panthers escaped Plymouth with a narrow 36-34 Northern Lakes Conference win Thursday.

Mary Kathryn Balsley

BREMEN â Mary Kathryn Balsley, 87, Bremen, died at 9:58 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 14, 2010 at her residence.
She is survived by her husband Louis; son, Jeff (Susan) Balsley of Kalamazoo, Mich.; daughter, Chris (Kevin) Hershberger of Bremen; five grandchildren; eight grandchildren; and two sisters-in-law, Elaine Conley of Elkhart and Lois Schrader of Los Angeles, Calif.
Visitation will take place from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, Dec. 17 at Mishler Funeral Home, 2030 S.R. 331, Bremen.

The one-to-one computer program at Lincoln Junior High, where every student and each certified teachers has a laptop computer, has now gained some recognition at the state level.
LJH Principal Dan Funston, along with Super-intendent Daniel Tyree, teacher Bob Garrity and student Garrick Nate, presented an overview of the program to the Indiana State Board of Education last week. Funston said Nate did a great job in showing how he uses the laptop for various projects

PLYMOUTH â After a 10-year absence, the book sale at the Plymouth Public Library returned with a bang.
The three-day event kicked off last Friday with hardback books selling for 50 cents and paperback books selling for 25 cents.
By the end of day Friday, the library had already made $1,000. According to Library Director Susie Reinholt, this was the first book sale since the library expanded just over 10 years ago with the purchase of property formerly owned by the Pilot News.

BREMEN â Billy Dale Reese, 78, of Bremen, passed away Monday, Dec. 13, 2010            Â
at Goshen General Hospital. Â
He was born June 19, 1932 in Marshall County to David and Violet (Hepler) Reese. He married Martha A. Griffin March 14, 1952. She preceded him in death March 16, 2010.  Â
Bill was a welder for NIPSCO in Plymouth and was a lifelong farmer. He loved the outdoors; he enjoyed hunting, fishing and hunting for mushrooms. He also enjoyed traveling and playing cards.

WARSAW â James A. âJimmyâ Hodges, 34, of Warsaw, died at 1:18 a.m. Monday, Dec. 13, 2010 at Kosciusko Community Hospital of Warsaw.
He is survived by his mother, Judy Foster Scott of Warsaw; father, James (Debra) Hodges of Rochester; fianceĂ©, Christine Miller of Warsaw; a sister, Leslie Hodges of Warsaw; brothers: Larry âPeteâ (Jill) Thompson of Bourbon, Chad (Missy) Thompson of Warsaw, and Wesley Hodges of Tippecanoe.
Visitation will take place from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 16 at Deaton-Clemens Funeral Home,
115 S. Main St., Bourbon.
