PLYMOUTH — No records, no personal bests and no lineup-shaking breakouts.
The atmosphere was subdued as Plymouth’s girls swim team finished out their regular season with a 105-81 loss to South Bend St. Joseph’s at their home pool Tuesday.

BOURBON — The Bourbon Public Library began a new program geared to promote reading at the earliest age. “1,000 Books Before Kindergarten†is for children birth through preschool and anyone can read to the child, any book (even the same book repeatedly) or attend Story Time at the library Thursdays from 2 to 2:45 p.m.
"Dancing" today may evoke images ranging from celebrities on television competitions to little more than flapping arms and legs in place, but time was when dances at Culver were affaris to be remembered, and social events to which young ladies from Indianapolis to South Bend dreamed of being invited.
BOURBON — A Bi-County championship and MVP are nice, but those are just the latest kudos for Triton’s Griffyn Carpenter.
CULVER — Patrice McBee is all grown up.
Not just in a physical sense — although at 6-foot-3, the Culver senior is certainly that, too — but spectators of Lady Cavaliers basketball have seen McBee’s game reach new heights recently.
At last week’s Bi-County Tournament, McBee scored a combined 49 points in three games — including a double-double with 14 points and 15 rebounds in Culver’s championship game against Oregon-Davis — leading the Cavs to their first tourney crown in more than 15 years and garnering MVP honors in the process.
MUNCIE — Ball State junior guard and Plymouth native Randy Davis has been named the Mid-American Conference West Division Player of the Week, the league office announced Monday. This is the first MAC weekly honor for Davis this season and the second of his career.
Davis becomes the second BSU men’s basketball player to earn the league’s weekly honor this season, joining classmate Jarrod Jones, who has picked up the award twice.

Members of Culver's volunteer fire department braved the frigid temperatures Saturday morning as they test-drove a hovercraft privately owned by Dave Rayburn of Goshen. The craft, which would be custom-made for the department according to rescue and safety standards, would be used primarily for ice rescues if purchased. Funding for the purchase would come from both the department's town-based budget and the Union Township budget. Township Trustee Jerry Greason -- as well as Township board member Bill Githens -- was on hand to observe.

BREMEN — Teachers at the Bremen School Board meeting last Tuesday hoped to have approved a tentative contract they had reviewed with the school superintendent. What they found instead was a decision to table the agreement between the Bremen Educators Association (BEA) and the Bremen Public Schools for “further study†by the board.
