WINAMAC — Pamela Jo Rausch, 59, Winamac, died at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 5, 2014 at Parkview Regional Medical Center in Fort Wayne.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Frain Mortuary, Winamac.

PLYMOUTH — Michael Pritchett, 58, of Plymouth died at his residence July 6, 2014. Arrangements are pending at the Good Family Funeral Home, Rochester.

The sirens remained silent through the storm

PLYMOUTH — Questions about the county’s weather warning sirens were raised at the county commissioners’ meeting Monday morning,
“I have heard some rumblings out in the community about the weather sirens not being activated,” said Commissioner Kevin Overmyer. “Have we found out why or do we know what has happened?”
Clyde Avery, of the Marshall County Emergency Management Agency, explained what he knew about the sirens to the commissions as well as concerns over the county's emergency plan not being utilized.

Splash pad automation

PLYMOUTH — Mike Hite, parks department superintendent, reported that the establishment of the new River Park Square is going well, although the program is complicated and is still being worked out. One change to initial plans is to install a start button at the splash pad.

PLYMOUTH — Lifetime Plymouth resident, Ben Kersey, 75, passed away at 7:47 a.m. Friday, July 4 in the Saint Joseph Regional Medical Center – Plymouth Campus following an illness.
Ben was born in Plymouth on March 6, 1939, the son of Dale E. Kersey Sr. and Annabelle (McKesson) Kersey. He received his education at Lincoln High School with the class of 1956.
He enjoyed a lifetime of hunting and fishing with family and friends. He had been a member of MARCO Bass Masters.

Drowning victim recovered from Lake Maxinkuckee

CULVER — The victim of a 4th of July drowning at the public beach on Lake Maxinkuckee has been identified as Jose Cruz Lizcano, age 27.

Sonar technology was used by Indiana Conservation officers in the search Friday evening, after Lizcano's friends did not notice his absence for around four hours.

The drowning is the second in two years at the town beach in Culver, with last year's drowning of a 22-year old Plymouth man taking place just over a week from one year ago (that incident took place July 13, 2013).

ROCHESTER — Former Tippecanoe and Argos resident, Mrs. Faye I. Menser, 91, passed away at 1:25 a.m. July 2, 2014, at Life Care Center, Rochester.   
Born in Plymouth on Dec. 28, 1922 Faye was the treasured daughter of Clark A and Elsie Ruth Lozier Reed. With great Dragon pride Faye graduated with her class, from Argos High School in 1940.

BRADENTON, Fla. — Donald R. Atkins, 72, of Bradenton, Fla., formerly of Plymouth, passed away June 19, 2014 after an eight-month battle with cancer.
He was the former owner of Plymouth Optical Service in Plymouth, but had lived in Bradenton for the past 12 years.
He leaves his wife, Rhoda, of 29 years, two daughters, Denise (Tom) Bell of Owensboro, Ky. and Deanne (Jim) Quissell of Plymouth, and a son Jeff (Shannen) Auker of Ft. Wayne.
Also surviving are a brother, Tom (Linda) Atkins of Plymouth and a sister, Lynette (Larry) Rusk of South Bend.
