PLYMOUTH — The tornado and hazardous warning siren located at the park has been repaired and is now operational, according to Emergency Management Director Clyde Avery.
The other siren located near the race track is out of service due to a manufacturer's issue.
MARSHALL COUNTY — Residents in the Plymouth area are being advised to find an alternate source for severe weather information instead of relying on the warning sirens.
Emergency Management Director Clyde Avery said two of the siren warning systems are not working and in light of the severe weather that is forecast for the region, people need to make other arrangements.
MARSHALL COUNTY — The following information was posted by the Marshall County Sheriff's office regarding the potential for severe weather beginning this afternoon.
The National Weather Service Storm Prediction Center has placed most of Northern Indiana under a moderate risk of severe weather for this afternoon and tonight.
The primary threat expected is damaging winds with gusts that could be in excess of 70mph. We could also see large hail, heavy rain (up to 2-3 inches) and have a medium potential for tornado activity.
FRANKLIN — Triton’s two DI golfers saw their rounds take very different turns Tuesday.
Ryan Rapp got off to an inauspicious start as he hooked his first tee shot out of bounds but quickly settled in to post a 2-under 70 just two shots off the lead, while Quentyn Carpenter saw his 3 under at the turn dissolve with a quadruple bogey on No. 2 and sits tied for 23rd in the 100-player field at 2-over 74 with the first round of the IHSAA Boys Golf State Finals now complete.
PLYMOUTH — The American Legion Post 27 Diamond Spyders held off a late-inning rally by Logansport Post 60 to come away with an 8-6 win at Bill Nixon Field Tuesday.
Shay Hepler was the star of the night, going 3-for-5 with a double, solo homer and a team-leading four RBIs to power his team to the win.

Gurtner wins MD Tour event
LaVille’s Zach Gurtner carded a 1-over 73 at Tippecanoe Country Club to win the boys 17-19 division in a Mountain Dew Junior Golf Tour event in Monticello Tuesday.
Gurtner followed up his 37 on the front nine with an even-par 36 on the back to edge Kokomo’s Tyler White by a stroke for top honors, while Plymouth’s Ben Schenk turned in a 9-over 81 to finish in a tie for 10th in the
division, and Nate Kolter, also of Plymouth, shot 85 for 19th.

PLYMOUTH — Local Crystal Hutchings had only aspired to be like her parents. Having admired her mother and father running before her, she was determined to do the same as early as age 6.
“It took me awhile to be as passionate about running as I am now,” admits Hutchings.
Hutchings will be making her way to the Mohican 100, a trail run referred to as the MO100 one of the nation’s premier ultra-marathons spanning through Mohican Memorial State Forest in Ohio.
She will be dedicating the run to the Be The Match Foundation.
PLYMOUTH - There is at least one business in Marshall County that is booming - law enforcement.
The Marshall County Council heard a group of additional appropriation requests from both the courts and the Sheriff’s Department at their regular meeting on Monday.
Superior Court I Judge Robert Bowen came before the Council with a request for more money for “Pauper Council”. Each defendant in a court case has a constitutional right to a lawyer, and if the accused cannot afford one he is given a public defender, paid for by the county.

Eugene O. Boos
May 17, 1924 - June 8, 2013
PLYMOUTH — Eugene O. “Pappy” Boos, 89, passed away Saturday, June 8, 2013, at 10:25 a.m. in RiverCrest Specialty Hospital, Mishawaka.
Born in Pulaski on May 17, 1924, he was the son of Louis and Marie P. (Bond) Boos.
Gene graduated from Pulaski High School with the class of 1942. He then served in the United States Marine Corps in WWII. He was awarded a Purple Heart and one Gold Star for injuries in combat.
On Aug. 5, 1945 in Buffalo, Gene and Ellen VanScoyk were married. The couple moved from Royal Center to Plymouth in 1947.
