SYRACUSE â€”Â Itâ€™s been a long time coming for the Plymouth High School gymnastics team to place third or better at the sectional level and advance to the regional round of the IHSAA gymnastics state tournament.
So long in fact that two members of that 2006 team, Dani Ramos and Dani McPherron, are now assistant coaches for the Pilgrims. After Saturday, those two can look forward to now having been both a gymnast and a coach at the regional level.
Culver Military Academy goalie Daniel Gaynor recorded 22 saves as CMA shut out Carmel Gold 3-0 in Class 5A state hockey tournament play at the Ice Box in South Bend Sunday.
The Eagles advance to the 5A championship against Columbus at the Pepsi Coliseum in Indianapolis Sunday, March 11 at 1:30 p.m.
Ryan Gandy, Kyle Bartelman and Michael Heidkamp all scored goals for CMA in Sundayâ€™s win.

Indiana Senator Randy Head (R - Logansport) visited Culver and Argos Saturday, discussing some of the more high-profile areas of state legislation of late and fielding questions from citizens.
At a "town hall" style meeting at Culver-Union Twp. Public Library, Head, now in the fourth year of his first term and serving the area due to recent redistricting, initially discussed the controversial "Right to Work" law, which passed last month, as well as the state smoking ban, which has passed the House but not the Senate.

BOURBON â€”Â Clay Yeo scored a game-high 30 points, highlighted by the game-winning bucket with 7 seconds left in the game, to carry Class A No. 51 Triton to a 56-55 victory over Marquette Catholic and its fifth straight boys basketball sectional title Saturday at The Trojan Trench.
Yeo, a 6-foot-6 junior, scored 16 of his team's 19 fourth-quarter points.
He hit his game-winner from 10 feet in the paint off an inbound lob from senior point guard Zak Shively.
PLYMOUTH â€” Fridayâ€™s Class 3A Sectional semifinals were both decided at the outset.
John Glenn jumped out to a 31-19 halftime lead and coasted to an eventual 54-40 win over Northern State Conference foe Jimtown in the early game, while Marian knocked down its first five shots â€” including 4 of 4 from deep â€” and rode a 36-12 start to a 71-54 victory over the host Pilgrims in the nightcap.

BOURBON â€” Tritonâ€™s boys basketball team needed some sort of in-game spark against an inspired Culver Community squad Friday.
A couple of key adjustments served the purpose.
Moved from a wing to the point against Culverâ€™s active 2-3 zone, Tritonâ€™s Clay Yeo fired in a game-high 23 points, while defensively the 6-foot-6 junior locked down on Culver leading scorer Trent Elliott in the second half to lead the Trojans to a 46-41 come-from-behind Class A Sectional 51 semifinal win at The Trojan Trench.
TOPEKA â€”Â Bremen advanced to the Class 2A Boys Basketball Sectional final for the second year in a row with a 74-59 win over Fremont Friday.
The Lions play host and defending sectional champion Westview tonight at 7 p.m.
Jacob Box led three Lions in double figures with a game-high 18 points, followed closely by Ethan Pike with 17 points. Ben Hueni chipped in 14 points for the Lions.

The NWS has issued a wind advisory for Marshall County. Sustained winds of 30mph with gusts to 55mph are expected. PLYMOUTH â€” In honor of Youth Art Month, several students from each elementary school in Plymouth have been selected to display their work at Heartland Artists Gallery downtown.
Elyse Chudzynski, art teacher at Riverside Intermediate School, said that it was difficult to chose only 26 of her students to be featured in the gallery.
Both the reception and the exhibit are free and open to the public. The studentsâ€™ artwork will be on display for the entire month of March during the galleryâ€™s normal hours of operation, Tuesday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
