PLYMOUTH â Plymouth Mayor Mark Senter has made it official â he plans to seek re-election.
The mayor made the announcement in a special release Tuesday night that he plans to officially announce his bid for re-election Thursday morning at 7 a.m. when he is scheduled to address the Marshall County Republican Party at their monthly breakfast meeting at Christos Family Restaurant on North Michigan Street in Plymouth.
Senter is in the final year of his first term as Mayor of Plymouth.

ELKHART â Chester W. Miller, age 79, a resident of Elkhart, passed away of natural causes Monday, Jan. 17, 2011 at 3:55 p.m. in St. Joseph Regional Medical Center of South Bend.
Chester was born the son of Ralph Miller and Ruth Felter Miller in Bourbon, May 18, 1931 and graduated from Bourbon High School in the class of 1949. He also enjoyed old cars, motorcycles, tractors, airplanes and most anything with a motor or that was mechanical.
LAKEVILLE â Fourpeat defending girls champion Oregon-Davis scuffled its way to a double-digit victory, while OD shooter Zach Richie was sidelined with the flu as the LaVille Lancers beat their guests by a lopsided 80-42 margin, and the Lady Bobcats survived 67-56 in first-round TCU Bi-County Basketball Tournament action Tuesday at Dale E. Cox Gymnasium.

Class A No. 4 Oregon-Davis got out-boarded by 15 and clanked its way to a 14-of-31 disaster from the charity stripe...and still won by double figures.
BREMEN â Culverâs girls and boys basketball teams advanced to the semifinals of the Teachers Credit Union Bi-County Basketball Tour-nament with victories over host Bremen Tuesday night.
The Culver girls fought off a late Bremen rally in notching a 40-37 win, while the boys finished with a nine-point run for a 47-35 triumph.

ARGOS â Third quarter defense cued a Lady Dragons win in the girls opener, while Glenn used a 22-4 second quarter to take control for the eventual win as the Falcons beat host Argos 75-30 in a boys reprisal for Glennâs 50-39 loss to the Lady Dragons as the 46th Annual TCU Bi-County Basketball Tour-nament got under way at Argos Tuesday.

In girlsâ action, Argos used a big third quarter to pull away from Glenn 50-39 in the first round of the 46th Teachers Credit Union Bi-County tournament.
NEW CARLISLE â Griffyn Carpenter put on same late heroics, while Tritonâs girls did just enough to hold off the Lady Cougars in hostile territory.

PLYMOUTH â An ambitious goal has led to a celebration for the United Way of Marshall County.
This yearâs campaign chose to increase their goal from the previous year in spite of economic indications.
âIt was an ambitious goal and weâre currently at 95 percent,â said Director of the Marshall County United Way Jennifer Maddox. âWe very optimistic that weâre going to reach our goal. Weâve seen huge generosity during this campaign â an increase in current donors and many new donors.â
The bottom line of the campaign is a positive outlook for the whole county.
BREMEN â Loweâs Charitable and Educational Foundation has awarded a $5,000 Toolbox for Education grant to Bremen Elementary-Middle School to help fund a new playground fence.
Bremen Elementary-Middle School is one of more than 450 schools or parent organizations to be awarded a Loweâs Toolbox for Education grant for parent-initiated school improvement projects benefitting K-12 public education across the United States during the 2009-2010 school year.

BOURBON â The Bourbon Town Council convened for the first time in 2011 beginning a new year with a new member, Les McFarland.
McFarland was sworn in Thursday, Dec. 23, at 10 a.m., at the town hall by Bourbon Town Clerk Kimberly Berger, to begin his four-year term Jan. 1.
And though new to the position as council member, councilman Gary Collins nominated him as president as the first item of business. Incumbent councilmember Larry Wattenbarger expressed his disapproval after the motion was seconded by McFarland.

WINTER HAVEN, Fla. â Russell âPaulâ Pontius, 91, of Winter Haven, Fla., formerly of Walkerton, passed away Friday, Jan. 14, 2011 at his residence.
He was born July 19, 1919 in Walkerton, to the late Lawrence and Lucy Kilian Pontius.
On Nov. 8, 1940, Paul married Irene Cox who passed away in October of 1979. Paul and Helen Hundt were married in October of 1981 and she passed away in May of 1997. In June of 2000, Paul married Phyllis June Reim who survives. Â
