BREMEN â€“ Next fall, Bremen High School plans to provide every student with a portable, wireless computing device as part of the 1:1 Technology Initiative.
â€śEach student will have their own device assigned to them, for use at school and at home,â€ť explained Steve Gall, technology integration coach.
Currently Bremen High School has about 300 computers dedicated for student use in several labs, which must be reserved in advance by individual teachers.
CULVER â€” After Mickella Hardy exploded for 23 points Saturday, Rochesterâ€™s defense made her a point of emphasis headed into Culver.
The Lady Zebras held the 5-11 freshman forward to 2 of 5 from the field and just five points, and Rochesterâ€™s veteran squad held off the young Cavaliers late for a 47-41 victory at John R. Nelson Gymnasium Wednesday night in a make up of a snow-out Tuesday.
ARGOS â€” The Argos girls soccer team was given a program-record number of All-Academic nominations and set another program first with the schoolâ€™s first All-State Honorable Mention nod as the Indiana Soccer Coaches Association named award-winners for the 2011 season.
Argos had its highest-ever number of All-Academic winners in history with seven players named to the list. No previous squad had placed more than three.

Starr posts double-double in win over Judson University
Plymouth grad Alex Starr posted her career-first double-double for Purdue University Calumet as the Peregrines claimed an 84-78 victory over Judson University on Wednesday night in the Fitness and Recreation Center in Hammond.

Instead, theyâ€™re part of an unusual fund raising event for â€śHello Gorgeous!â€ť which treats cancer-fighting women to a spa event with new attire and more, as reported in a recent edition of this newspaper.
This Holiday Season, area residents are asked to consider helping community supporters raise money for a local family.
Rob Reinhold, 42, who was born and raised in the Culver area, moved back to Culver with his wife, Rhonda to raise their young daughter, Reilly. Reinhold was diagnosed with severe, debilitating ALS last September and his health has quickly deteriorated.

CULVER â€”Â Mary G. Misch, 71, of Culver died Nov. 25, 2011 at 8:23 a.m.
She is survived by sisters, Kathy (Ed) Allyn of Culver and Nancy Jordan of Lancaster, Pa.
There will be no visitation.
A graveside service will be held Thursday, Dec. 1, 2011 at 12:30 p.m. EST at Resurrection Cemetery, DeMotte.

PLYMOUTH â€”Â Beatrice Anders, 94, died at her residence of natural causes at 12:45 p.m. Monday, Nov. 28, 2011. She was a Marshall County resident all of her life with the exception of wintering in Florida in the winter months for several years.
Bea, as she was affectionally known by her friends and family was born July 25, 1917, in Bourbon. She was the daughter of Charles H. and Della May Whittmore Amones.
She graduated from Plymouth High School with the class of 1936.

BREMEN â€”Â Laurene J. Gunterman, 88, of Bremen, passed away Tuesday, Nov. 29, 2011 at the Bremen Health Care Center. She was born June 1, 1923 in Plymouth to James and Marie (Tallant) Gilbert. She was married to Anthony Gunterman, who preceded her in death in 1975.
Laurene was a lifelong area resident. She was a member of St. Dominicâ€™s Catholic Church in Bremen, Plymouth Moose Ladies Aux., and previous member of the Rosary Sadality. Laurene was a natural, loving caregiver to both her family and those in need.

LEITERS FORD â€” Marjorie R. Albright, 87, of rural Leiters Ford, formerly of Argos, died Nov. 28, 2011 at 2:10 p.m. at her residence following a several month illness.
She was born June 7, 1924 in Plymouth to Charles and Fern (Nellans) Ferguson. She lived most of her life in the Argos community.
July 18, 1942, Glendyn C. Albright and Marjorie R. (Ferguson) were married and shared 64 years together. He preceded her in death Aug. 11, 2006.
