Eleanor Boys Blank led a full life, most of which was devoted to helping others. This she learned from her father and mother.
Eleanor died peacefully in her sleep Sunday, Jan. 30, 2011 in Jarales, New Mexico at the home of Richard and Wendy Cordova, who were her caregivers.
Family life
Eleanor Cornell Boys Blank was born in Plymouth to Samuel Evan and Florence Riddick Boys June 18, 1912. She was the fourth of five children. She graduated from Plymouth High School and Indiana University, Bloomington. While at IU she was a member of the Delta Gamma Sorority.

BOURBON â The Bourbon Police Department, Town of Bourbon and the community lost one of its most memorable leaders and friends Friday morning.
Bourbon Assistant Police Chief and town council member Gary Collins, 49, was found unresponsive at his home at approximately 5 a.m. Friday morning. He was rushed to Kosciusko Community Hospital where he was later pronounced dead from natural causes, of an apparent heart attack.
It was reported that after working a 3 to 11 p.m. shift the evening prior, Collins had returned home and went about his normal routine.
PLYMOUTH â Itâs been a celebration 50 years in the making and United Way of Marshall County took the time Thursday evening to say thank you to volunteers and donors in its 50th Anniversary campaign at Christos Banquet Center.
The United Wayâs annual recognition dinner took time to highlight all the campaignâs heroes and gave a chance for current Campaign Chair Melissa Owen to pass the torch to next yearâs Chair Chad Dreibelbis.

PLYMOUTH â Faith and patriotism well described Fred J. Beam at his sudden passing Tuesday afternoon, the first day of February, 2011.Â
A man of faith he served God as a proud husband, father and grandfather. As a patriot he effectively served his country as Command Sergeant Major Fred J. Beam, U.S. Army â Retired.

WYATT â Richard âDickâ LaVine, 83, of Wyatt, died Tuesday, Feb. 1, 2011 at his residence.
He is survived by his wife, Wilma LaVine; son, David LaVine of Granger; daughter, Sharon (Joe) Ford of North Liberty; two grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; brothers: Alfred LaVine of South Bend, Burnett LaVine of Delton, Mich., and Lyle LaVine of Plymouth; sisters, Edna Bunch of Mishawaka, and Treva Bope of Winter Haven, Fla.; and several nieces and nephews.

OSHKOSH, Wis. â Orval âBuckâ Sweeney age 89 of Oshkosh, Wis., passed away Saturday morning, Jan. 29, 2011 at Park View Health Center.
Buck was born Oct. 22, 1921 in Salem, Ind., the son of Clotus and Gertie (Hattabaugh) Sweeney. He had three brothers, one sister, and one half-brother.
Oct. 28, 1939, Buck married Clara Walton. They had four children: Danella, Rosalind, Burley, and Mike. June 27, 1964, Buck married Lorraine R. Fauk giving him two stepsons, Ronald and Donald, and they had one daughter, Linda.

TIPPECANOE â Ruth Elaine Sickmiller, 62, of Marshall County, died Saturday, Jan. 29, 2011 in Parkview Hospital, Ft. Wayne.
She is survived by her husband, Sandro; a son, Scott (Sherri) Sickmiller of Tippecanoe; daughters, Bobbi Sickmiller of Tippecanoe and Melissa (Ryan) Klingerman of Argos; four grandchildren; and brothers: Joe (Bev) Cooley of Talma, Dan (Raelene) Cooley of Milford, and Jack Howard of Nappanee; and a sister, JoAnn (Bill) Martin of Bourbon.

INDIANAPOLIS â For most, Feb. 23 is just another day in February, but for some WWII Veterans, it is a reminder os something much more important. It marks the 66th year anniversary of the most historical day of WWII, the seizure of Mount Suribachi on the island of Iwo Jima, Japan. Some Americans remember the historical flag-raising by five Marines and one Navy Corpsman, but few will understand the epic battle for Iwo Jima that cost the United States 4,590 lives and wounded 24,096 Marines and Sailors.
