BOURBON — Zak Hoffer, of Bourbon, is a fairly average 21-year-old. A fan of classic rock music, he enjoys playing his guitar, spending time with his family, and bowling. But what's not so average is Zak's past. When Zak was 10 years old, he was hit by a car while out riding his bike, landing him in the hospital for three months and causing permanent brain injuries.
"We didn't think that he would have a future," said Zak's mother, Patty Hoffer-Steele. "When we left the hospital the psychologist told us he would never have a normal conversation again."
Culver Community senior Allen Biggers put up a career-high 17 points as the Cavs lost a 61-58 contest with New Prairie last week.
Bremen’s Kailee Feldman put up a combined 36 points as the Lady Lions defeated both Bethany Christian and LaVille last week.
WALKERTON — Simply put, Triton’s Clay Yeo took over.
Following a scoreless first frame, the 6-foot-6 junior guard piled up a game-high 30 points, snagged 10 rebounds and dished out three assists to lead the Class A No. 8 Trojans to a 54-38 Northern State Conference boys basketball win over John Glenn at The Aerie Saturday.
PLYMOUTH — Plymouth’s girls hung tough for a half, but the turnovers piled up in the second half, and the Lady Pilgrims took a 49-29 defeat at the hands of a tough Elkhart Memorial squad Saturday at The Rock.
AKRON — The Plymouth boys basketball team is living proof of the old saying “If you always do what you’ve always done, then you will always get what you’ve always got.”
Turnovers, poor shooting from the field and a late attempt at making a comeback failed the Pilgrims a second night in a row as it went down in defeat to the Tippecanoe Valley Vikings 54-43 Saturday night.
