PLYMOUTH — Bernice Evelyn Ersepke Dietz, known affectionately to her friends as “Berne,” died March 10, 2012. She was 82 years old.
Berne was born to Bernhard and Ethel Longmire Ersepke in San Francisco, Calif., Aug. 22, 1929.
She graduated from George Washington High School in 1947, and later attended San Francisco City College.

PLYMOUTH — A lifetime Marshall County resident, Mary Marie Klein, 87, passed away of natural causes at 2:55 a.m., Friday morning, March 9, 2012, in Pilgrim Manor.
Mary was born in Tyner, Jan. 23, 1925, and raised as the daughter of Fay E. and Rebecca V. (Trump) Ward. She attended Tyner grade school and graduated from Plymouth’s Lincoln High School in 1942.

8 departments assist in multiple-county vehicle chase

CULVER — Marshall County Police department officers and Culver Police department officers were led on a chase Saturday night around 10 p.m. when a driver in Culver failed to yield on a traffic stop.

1M gallons of city water used during fire

PLYMOUTH — During Monday evening’s board of public works and safety meeting, Plymouth utility superintendent Donnie Davidson informed the board that about one million gallons of water were used extinguishing the flames at Liberty Depot Saturday.
“That’s 3,000 gallons per minute, which is full capacity for both our plants,” said Davidson. “We didn’t have any more water to get them even if we wanted to.” Davidson added that he appreciated the work of the fire department as not only a department head, but also as a citizen.

Yeo receives 2nd IBCA/ Pacers-Fever Player of the Week nomination

BOURBON — Triton junior forward Clay Yeo was honored with his second IBCA/ Pacers-Fever Player of the Week nod for his performance at the Class A Triton Regional Saturday.
Yeo, a 6-6 wing player who is committed to Valparaiso University, captured District 1 honors after averaging 30.5 points in two games and becoming the all-time leading scorer at Triton (20-6).

PLYMOUTH — Mayor Mark Senter has issued a proclamation officially designating Monday, March 12, 2012 as "Girl Scout Day" in Plymouth.
The declaration is to honor the organization's 100th anniversary this year.

Biggest fire in city's history

PLYMOUTH — To say that Plymouth’s new Fire Chief Rod Miller hit the ground running in his second full week as fire chief is an understatement. The Chief was in command at the largest fire in the city’s history, one lasting more than 24 hours.
Around 4:30 p.m. Saturday, firemen were called to the Liberty Street Depot building at the corner of Liberty and Pennsylvania Streets in Plymouth.
“By the time we got here, we’d seen the billows of smoke coming down the street,” said Miller, who also said the building, which was built in the 1870s and is about 80,000 square feet.

TCU Athlete of the Week Clay Yeo

Triton’s Clay Yeo put up a combined 61 points to set the program’s all-time scoring record at the Trojans’ home Class A regional Saturday. This is the third time Yeo has earned the Athlete of the Week award this season after setting new single-season and game scoring records for the team.
