CULVER — Culver’s Rob Reinhold may have summed up the enormity of Saturday’s benefit for his family in describing the event: “Overwhelming.”
Family members, friends, and attendees in general would concur, though the question lingers as to what was more overwhelming: the incredible community turnout or the amount of money raised. In both cases, the numbers are — well, overwhelming.
PLYMOUTH — A usually very "played in" kid's room, sparkling with freshly cleaned floors and walls. Tidied-up animal cages. Calm dogs, worn out from exercise. A group of fifth graders learning about decimals in a new way.
These were some of the small, yet meaningful contributions that Plymouth Key Club students made to the community Monday as they did service tasks in observance of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day. About 60 students worked at the Marshall County Humane Society, the Boys and Girls Club, and Riverside Intermediate School.
PLYMOUTH — After a whirlwind major U.S. summer tour, a hit new album and preparing to head out on an east coast tour of their own, Plymouth’s Nick and Will Kubely and the band Passafire have even more good news.
The group has been invited to play with the band 311 in May on their special fan cruise of the Carribean.
Three ranked Class A girls teams — who also happen to be sectional rivals — will take the floor separately tonight as the Bi-County Tournament kicks off at four local sites.
Class A No. 4 Oregon-Davis will try to avoid a third straight loss as it plays host to New Prairie at 6:30 p.m. EDT, while Class A No. 6 Triton takes on defending tournament champion Culver in a 6 p.m. rematch of a Northern State Conference game last Friday, and Class A No. 10 Argos puts its brand-new state ranking to the test against Bremen at home at 6:30 p.m.
