PLYMOUTH â Plymouth Post 27 started off the 2012 season on a winning note as the Diamond Spyders swept visiting Highland Post 180 in a doubleheader at Bill Nixon Field Saturday, 8-1 and 5-2.

These are among the items up for bid at the Culver Boys & Girls Club annual fundraiser, âBuilding Brighter Futures,â Friday, June 15 at the Lay Dining Facility on the Culver Academies campus from 6 to 9:30 p.m.
The evening includes a silent auction with over 175 items, a delicious buffet dinner, and a premier live auction.
Bluefield, Va. â Plymouth native Chase Neidig will take over as head womenâs soccer coach at Bluefield College in Bluefield, Virginia, the college announced Thursday.
Neidig is a 2003 Grace Baptist High School graduate who owns the schoolâs all-time goals record with 93 and helped lead Grace to two Indiana Association of Christian Schools Division I state championships. He is a 2009 Grace College graduate with a double major in communications and journalism.
DONALDSON â A field of 140 participants from five different states converged upon Ancilla College and the Poor Handmaids of Jesus Christ Ministry Center as the school held its fourth annual Tri Ancilla sprint triathlon Saturday, May 19.
Men and women ranging in age from 15 to 87 participated in a 500-yard swim, 11-mile bike ride, and a 3.1-mile run that toured the Donaldson-based campus and surrounding areas.
PLYMOUTH â Since 2010, Quickâs Lanes in Plymouth has offered free bowling for children every day during the summer months. John Reed of Quickâs Lanes said that 698 children have already signed up for this year.
âSome families may not be able to afford to take all the kids bowling, and itâs a fun, safe thing to do,â explained Reed. âThis is our way of giving back to the community for the 30-plus years theyâve supported us.â
ARGOS â Argos joined the ranks of other local communities Bourbon, North Liberty, and Walkerton Wednesday night when town council members voted to stop adding fluoride to the townâs water supply.
âThe council had been given information, both pro and con (on adding fluoride to public water) about a week before (the meeting),â said Nick Wood, Argos water superintendent Thursday. âLast night I officially took that to the board, to discontinue fluoridation of our town water here.â
FORT WAYNE â Both teams were close, but neither Culver Military Academy nor Triton advanced in a competitive Homestead Golf Regional at Orchard Ridge Thursday.
Warsaw won the championship with a dominant 308, Fort Wayne Bishop Dwenger finished runner-up with a 322, and Northridge finished one stroke back as the third team to advance to the state finals, while CMA carded a 327 four strokes out of state contention, and Triton recorded a 331 in sixth and ninth place respectively at the meet.
LaVille High School has named two senior Student-Athletes of the Year, one for boys and one for girls sports.
Jesse Feitz and Eric Shaffer were selected as the LaVille Dale E. Cox Student-Athletes of the Year.Â
Feitz earned 11 varsity letters whileÂ participating inÂ cross country, soccer, basketball and track and field. She will continue her academic and athletic career in basketball at Grace College in Winona Lake.
Shaffer earned eight varsity letters while participating in cross country, wrestling and track and field.Â He will attend Purdue University where he plans to study Pharmacy.
