Kolter competes at Northern Junior Masters
Plymouth’s Nate Kolter shot an 89 at Pine Valley to finish tied for 72nd at the Indiana Golf Foundation’s Northern Junior Masters competition Sunday in Fort Wayne.
Kolter carded a 42 on the front side but shot a 47 on the back to slide into 72nd after one round at the event. Play continues with a second round today.

Schenk ties for 6th at Chippendale
Plymouth’s John Schenk tied for sixth place in an Indiana Golf Foundation event at Chippendale in Kokomo June 22.

IHSAA to add 6th football class beginning in 2013

INDIANAPOLIS — The IHSAA Executive Committee approved a portion of an Indiana Football Coaches Association (IFCA) proposal in adding a sixth classification to the football state tournament beginning in 2013-14. The Committee also voted in favor of a two-year tournament success factor in each team sport (baseball, basketball, football, soccer, softball volleyball), an accumulation of points by which any school would move up one class based on tournament series performance during that time.

PLYMOUTH — Mona M. Stetler, 66, a lifetime Plymouth resident, passed away in St. Joseph Regional Medical Center, Plymouth at 4:15 p.m. Wednesday, June 20, 2012.
The daughter of Dean B. and Cecilia Kinzie Dipert, Mona was born Sept. 9, 1945 in Plymouth. She attended Plymouth Schools. Jan. 26, 1986, in Inwood, Mona and Pete Stetler were married. Pete preceded her in death Dec. 1, 2002.
Mona had been a production worker at Aker Plastics for six and one half years.

'Jack and the Beanstalk' opens tonight

PLYMOUTH — More than 50 local children make up the cast of this weekend’s Jack in the Beanstalk performance from the Plymouth Missoula Children’s Theatre. Organizer Donna Georgen said that she appreciates being a part of Missoula because each year’s productions are so appreciated by the children and the community.
“One of the things that has been so appealing about bringing Missoula to the area every year is that the tour directors are always prepared and the kids love it — they could do it all summer long,” said Georgen.

Relay will bring survivors, supporters together

PLYMOUTH — The annual Marshall County Relay for Life is this Saturday and Sunday at Centennial Park in Plymouth.
Organizer Becky Milliser said that her favorite part of the overnight event is spending time with other cancer survivors and their friends and family.
“I just love the whole relay experience, just hearing other peoples stories and what they have gone through,” said Milliser. “We are kind of like a family.”

Post 27 wins 2nd straight vs Logan

PLYMOUTH — Plymouth Post 27 used the momentum from Wednesday night’s comeback win to pick up its second victory in as many days, defeating Post 418/60 out of Logansport, 10-5.
The Diamond Spyders got benefited from a strong pitching performance from Sean Liedtky. He went seven innings for the victory and gave up two earned runs on five hits while striking out six. Wally Dickman relieved him in the eighth and struck out five Logansport hitters over the final two innings to secure the win.
Post 418/60 started the game with a run to pick up the early lead.
