Sidewalk sale days start today

September 13, 2012

PLYMOUTH — Downtown merchants will have specials today, Friday, and Saturday for the Chamber of Commerce's "Old Fashion Days" sidewalk sale.
"It's our fall sidewalk sale," said Betty Glaub-Gibbs of the Chamber. "It's called old fashion days because it's been called that forever…we've asked store (employees) to dress up according to an era…from the 1980s and back."
Stores that will be offering sidewalk specials include: Floor Store & More, City Center News & Books, Na Rie Simple Treasures, Kings Jewelry, Yoder's Sports Center, Treat's Squire Shop, and Harriet's Closet.

Area teams looking for better O production in Week 5

September 13, 2012

After some disappointing production last weekend, several area teams are focusing on offense this week.
Culver was nearly shut out by visiting New Prairie in a tough 54-6 loss, while Bremen narrowly nipped Triton in a 7-0 decision.
The Lions (2-2, 1-1 NSC) and the Cavs (1-3, 1-1 NSC) are trying to address some of their offensive woes as they face off in a Northern State Conference game at Bremen Friday. Ball security is a specific area of concern for both after Culver surrendered three turnovers and the Lions coughed up four in Week 4.

40th Annual IHSAA Girls Golf Tournament opens Friday

September 13, 2012

WARSAW — There’s an old saying in golf that you play the course, not your opponent.
While the Plymouth’s girls golf team is certainly happy to be seeded third at Saturday’s Warsaw Golf Sectional, that’s the mindset the Lady Pilgrims are trying to cultivate.

They got two.

“I went to church camp this summer with two other LaVille students,” explained Shaffer. “There was this speaker who told us that there is this huge water need (worldwide), and I wanted to do something about it.”

Glenn shuts out LaVille 5-0 in NSC match-up

September 12, 2012

WALKERTON — Tuesday’s Northern State Conference meet at John Glenn was a match-up of two young squads. In the end, it was the slightly more experienced Falcons who claimed the victory, handing visiting LaVille losses on all five courts for their second NSC win.
“Any time you get a conference win it’s something to hang your hat on. We’ve got a tough conference this year and an inexperienced squad. We’ve got a couple seniors, but we have five sophomores, so we’re still building up a little bit and getting the guys some experience. It’s a good win,” said Glenn tennis coach Chris Horvath.
