PLYMOUTH — For years Marshall County has taken advantage of a state program that allows the county to receive a 50 percent match for Emergency Management Agency Director Clyde Avery’s salary.
As long as the county met a certain point total on the state’s preparedness guidelines and Avery has continued to meet the standards set for his profession by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) — which the county and Avery have exceeded — then the state would pay half of Avery’s salary.
BREMEN — Variety was the spice of everyone’s life Saturday night as the LifePlex Dance Academy presented its annual recital “Dancing through the Decades.”
Held in the Bowen auditorium at Bremen High School, the program involved child, youth, and adult dancers as well as professional dance teachers, highlighting the wide variety of dance instruction offered by the school.
FORT WAYNE — Plymouth Post 27 played its sixth game in five days, and some fatigue may have shown in its 9-5 loss to the Ohio River Bandits in Fort Wayne’s Parkview Stadium Monday.
Plymouth jumped out to an early lead in the first.
Brock Anson led off the game with a walk. James Hackworth sacrificed him to second, and Brody Andrews doubled down the left field line to score Anson. Brody scored a moment later when brother Tanner singled to put the Diamond Spyders up 2-0.
LAPAZ — The Briar Patch in LaPaz will hold its fourth annual folk art show and sale Saturday, June 30. About 15 vendors will have their work displayed, and items include vintage, handcrafted, and antique items.
"For the last four years we have held this show in an attempt to showcase local artisans and encourage folks to visit Marshall County", said Phyllis Horvath owner of The Briar Patch. "I believe that small hometown festivals are making a comeback, folks crave the Mayberry days of wandering around the 'county fair' and seeing what their neighbors have to offer."

PLYMOUTH — NASCAR champ Tony Stewart arrived for a much-anticipated Sprints On Dirt race Saturday at Plymouth Speedway — just in time to watch showers move in and postpone the event.
Stewart, who flew in to the Plymouth Airport after a mandatory practice at Michigan International Speedway was called for 6 p.m. in Brooklyn, Mich., was as disappointed as his fans in the nearly sold-out crowd that Mother Nature was not cooperating with the track’s planned events.
