BREMEN â€”Â Helen L. Stine Matz, 95, formerly of Bremen, passed away on Dec. 14, 2013 in Ferdinand. Helen was born on June 20, 1918 in Bremen to Owen C. and Gladys S. (Abbiehl) Stine. She was the second oldest of seven children. She graduated in 1936 from Nappanee High School.

Born in Chicago, Ill., Marianne worked as a cashier at Alfordâ€™s lGA in Argos for many years. Finally, retiring as an Optician in Jupiter, Fla. She enjoyed traveling, reading, and spending time with family and friends.

ARGOS â€”Â Earl E. Herriott, 76, died Friday, June 13, 2014 in Arizona. Arrangements are pending with the Johnson-Danielson Funeral Home, Plymouth.
MARSHALL COUNTY/PLYMOUTH/BOURBON â€” A $600,000 grant will help the county identify and reclaim property once used for commercial or industrial purposes. The funding will pay for soil testing and the cost of creating a county-wide inventory of sites considered brownfields that may be reused after cleanup.

LAPAZ/LAKEVILLE â€” The Union North United School Corp. board approved a rate increase for school bus drivers, effective this summer and into next school year. The increase of $10 per run will help the school recruit and retain good drivers, according to school officials.

Wesley was born to the late Walter and Florence Schilling in Lowell on May 18, 1925. Upon turning 18 years of age, Wesley enlisted in the U.S. Navy, serving his country during World War II. On Oct. 25, 1947 he married Velma Matthews of Knox.

CULVER â€”Â Paul Reuben Crum, age 85, of Culver, passed away Tuesday, June 10, 2014 after a short illness. Paul was born on Jan. 6, 1929 in the home of an aunt and uncle in East Chicago, to Annis V. Crum and Ida Grace (McKessen) Crum of Burr Oak. Paul joined the U.S. Air Force and served his country from 1950 â€“ 1954. On Sept. 4, 1982 he married the love of his life, Loraine M. Finkbiner. He worked in the plumbing and heating trade. He also loved playing the tenor saxophone and working on chain saws as a hobby.

SOUTH BEND â€”Â Carole A. Ross, 72, of South Bend passed away at 8:15 a.m. on Saturday, May 24 at Saint Joseph Regional Medical Center in Mishawaka.
She was born on March 14, 1942 in Chicago, Ill. to the late Paul Richard Ross and Margaret Lucille (Barden) Ross. She has resided in the South Bend area since 2010 coming from Plymouth.
She graduated from Walkerton High School class of 1960, Ancilla College in 1985 and also was a graduate of the Indiana Law Enforcement Academy.
Carole was formerly a Police Officer for many years in Bourbon.

PLYMOUTH â€”Â Gisele Jeanne-Louise Morris, age 87, of Plymouth, passed away at 12:24 p.m., on Thursday, June 5, 2014, at Saint Joseph Regional Medical Center, in Mishawaka.
Gisele was born on Sept. 5, 1926, in Lyon, France, to Pierre Francois Marius and Marie-Antoinette Josephine Chamoret Lagneau. Gisele married Edward Lloyd Paxton after World War II. She later married Leroy Morris and they lived in Plymouth since the mid-1960s. She had been an active member of the Women of the Moose Lodge #1355, for decades.
