SOUTH BEND ‚ÄĒ Dimitria H. Bechaka, 96, passed away Sunday, Oct. 19, 2014 in her residence surrounded by her family.
Dimitria was born Nov. 26, 1917 in Shiatsista, Greece to the late Evangelos and Kaliopei Varveri. On Feb. 12, 1939 in Greece, Dimitria married Harry Bechaka, who preceded her in death in September 1996. They spent many wonderful years together raising their family and making great friendships through their business The Good and Plenty Restaurant in Plymouth.

PLYMOUTH ‚ÄĒ The Senior Expo will be in full swing October 23 at Plymouth High School. From 8 a.m. until 3 p.m., community members can snack on food and goodies while having their inquiries answered.
For the last few years, the expo has been held at the LifePlex. But Jackie Wright, Director of the Marshall County Council on Aging, knew the location needed to be bigger this year.
‚ÄúThe expo has grown and due to the growth and the possibility for future expansion, we needed a larger venue,‚ÄĚ said Wright.

PLYMOUTH ‚ÄĒ The Plymouth School Board will hold a public hearing concerning the contract of the Superintendent prior to the regular meeting on November 4.
Patrons will be allowed to give testimony during the hearing scheduled for 6:30 P.M. in the Board Room located at 611 Berkley St.
The Board released a summary of the proposed contract that would be in effective from July 1, 2015 until June 30, 2019 for the extension of the contract with Daniel Tyree. According to the release, the compensation will be effective retroactively starting July 1, 2014.

Early Monday morning a break-in occurred at Tippecanoe Valley Middle School. Forced entry was made into the building where the intruder attempted to steal money, prescription medications, and musical instruments from secured areas. Damage was done to a few areas of the school, with the primary damage occurring in the office and nearby areas.

PLYMOUTH ‚ÄĒ JoAnne P. ‚ÄúPennie‚ÄĚ Collins, 78, formerly of the Culver area, passed away on Thursday, Oct. 16, 2014 at Miller‚Äôs Merry Manor, Plymouth.
Born to Viola Sawyer in Sault Sainte Marie, Mich. on Jan. 15, 1936, Pennie graduated from Sault Sainte Marie High School with the class of 1953. She attended nursing school through Ivy Tech and graduated in 1976.
On May 8, 1954 Pennie married Verner R. Collins Sr. in Sault Sainte Marie Church, Mich. He would precede her in death on Aug. 16, 2003.

PLYMOUTH ‚ÄĒ Sonny (Auburn) Balser, 70, lost his courageous battle with cancer on Friday, Oct. 17, 2014 at 6:01 p.m. with his loving family by his side.
Born on May 1, 1944 in Charleston, W.Va., Sonny was the son of Lestel G. and Galdys P. (Hopper) Balser.
On Nov. 28, 1998, Sonny married Gail Sweisberger in Plymouth.
Sonny was the owner/operator of Granada Van Conversions in Bristol and he managed three trailer parks in the Plymouth area for over 12 years. He also worked for Pioneer Auto in Osceola until his retirement in 2010.

ARGOS ‚ÄĒ James Craft, 86 of Plymouth died Thursday, Oct. 16 at 10:30 a.m. at his daughter‚Äôs residence in Argos after a long illness.
He was born Oct. 20, 1927 in Breathitt County, Kent. to Clifton Craft and Meadia Hensley. He lived in the Argos community since 1951, after he moved to the area from his native Kentucky.
He is survived by his wife, Marcelle L. (Hartman) Craft. the couple were married Oct. 16, 1973 in Clintwood, Va. James worked at Eley‚Äôs Saw Mill in Argos as an Off Bearer.
The Plymouth Redevelopment Commission will meet on October 21.
