BREMEN — Mrs. Della Ann Hooper, age 74 of Bremen and formerly of Todd Co., passed away 9:40 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 26, 2014 in Walkerton of natural causes. Services will be 1 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 30, 2014 at Latham Funeral Home in Elkton, Ky. Burial will follow in the Stokes Chapel Cemetery. Visitation will be 10 a.m. Saturday until the funeral at 1 p.m. at Latham Funeral Home.

BOURBON — Glenn Leonard, 63, Bourbon, passed away on Wednesday, Aug. 27, 2014 at 4 a.m. in Elkhart Hospice House, Elkhart with his family at his side.
Glenn was born Sept. 19, 1950 to Homer and Bernadine (Hart) Leonard at Connersville, Pa. He has been a lifelong resident of the area. Glenn was a graduate of Triton High School in 1968.

PLYMOUTH — Dorothy Underwood, age 92, of Plymouth, passed away at 6:17 a.m., Tuesday, Aug. 26, 2014, at Pilgrim Manor Nursing Home, in Plymouth. 
Dorothy was born on Dec. 3, 1921, in Plymouth, to Walter and Ruby (Shreve) Poore. Dorothy and Lawrence A. Underwood were united in marriage on Sept. 14, 1947, in Plymouth. She had retired from the Plymouth Credit Bureau.

BOURBON — Gloria J. Cummins, age 72, a resident of Bourbon, passed away on Wednesday, Aug. 27, 2014 at 8:45 a.m. in Peabody Retirement Community, North Manchester.
Gloria was born the daughter of Raymond and Laura (Priebe) Thompson at Milwaukee, Wis. on Sept. 15, 1941. She was a graduate of Abbottsford High School, Abbottsford, Wis. Gloria had been a Social Service worker in Superior, Wis. and Pell City, Ala. She was raised in the Lutheran Church and she attended the Inwood United Methodist Church.

ROCKLEDGE, Fla. — Daniel Overholser, 44, died at 3:45 p.m. Aug. 23, 2014 at Wuesthoff Medical Center due to complications from a serious illness.
He was born March 17, 1970 in Hammond to Jack and Shirley (Wilhelm) Overholser.
Dan never married, but had a faithful friend and caregiver, Jan Shehan, who survives.
His mother, Shirley Fleming, also survives, along with two sisters, Jacqueline (Michael) Yates, and Elizabeth Moore. And a grandmother, Marie V. Wilhelm. All of Plymouth.

MISHAWAKA — Larry Cather, 77, passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, Aug. 27.
Larry was born on Jan. 5, 1937 in Mishawaka to Ivan G. and Fern E. (Hepler) Cather. He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Pat Larimer and Nancy Bolin and a son, Corby Cather.
On Dec. 30, 1978 in Elkhart he married Jo Ann Jordan Petill.

Bond process cleared for LaVille schools

LAPAZ/LAKEVILLE — The Union North United School Corporation board of trustees approved the resolution confirming the amendment to lease and approving the first mortgage bonds for the 2014-2015 year.

The money is to be used for necessary construction projects at the schools. Among the projects is the plan to redo the parking lot in the jr.-sr. high school area, beautification of the buildings, and the finishing of the roofing project.

DONALDSON — Thursday’s meeting of the Marshall County Lakes & Waters Council was all about establishing conservancy districts.

Since conservancy districts are entities that can employ taxes or user fees, many people were hesitant or wary of the idea; however, guest speaker attorney Ethan Lowe made it clear that conservancy districts are created with a purpose in mind and adhere to strict rules.
