PLYMOUTH — Marie L. Gosnick, 95, of Plymouth, passed away Saturday, May 4, 2013, at 4:05 a.m., at Miller’s Merry Manor, Plymouth.
Marie was born Aug. 16, 1917, in Rolette, N.D., to William and Irena (Gardner) Anderson. She married Joseph P. Simpson on Aug. 31, 1934. He passed away March 1, 1969. She married Joseph Gosnick in 1975. He passed away in 1977. Marie was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and a homemaker.

PLYMOUTH — Joan E. Griewank, age 87, of Plymouth, passed away at 4:29 a.m., Friday May 3, 2013, at Pilgrim Manor Nursing Home.
Joan was born Aug. 14, 1925, in Gary, to Martin C. and Vera (Reinhardt) Anderson. She graduated from West High School in the class of 1944. Joan was a registered nurse and retired from Miller’s Merry Manor, in Culver. She enjoyed being a member of the Mary Martha Circle, through her church.

MISHAWAKA — Iris Arlene (Long) McChesney, 83, of Mishawaka passed away at 1:25 p.m. Saturday, May 4, 2013 at the St. Joseph Regional Medical Center, Mishawaka.
Iris was born May 10, 1929 in Plymouth to the late Mahlon G. and Laura Leona (Wright) Long and has been a lifelong resident of this area. She is a 1947 graduate of Plymouth High School.

BREMEN — Donald Manges of Bremen died April 28 in Ft. Myers, Fla.
He is survived by two daughters, Malinda Slaybaugh and Melody Craig; three brothers, Wayne Manges, Burton Manges, Evan Manges; one sister, Leona Holderread; five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
No services planned. Lee County Cremation Services in Florida is handling arrangements.

Plymouth's Dan Samuelson won both the shot put and the discus at the Kelly Relays at Concord Friday night, following up a two-win performance in the Pilgrims' dual meet with Wawasee Wednesday.
Bremen's Chelsea Huppert threw a pair of shutouts with a combined 12 strikeouts as the Lady Lions beat both South Bend Adams and Eastside to win the Eastside Softball Tournament over the weekend.
PLYMOUTH — While Plymouth’s Pilgrims took a step forward, they still took only a split as they were able to shut out Fort Wayne Wayne by a 6-0 final but fell in the final to Penn 11-4 at their home tourney Saturday.

Jacob Frantz was masterful in a four-hit shut out as Plymouth took a game one Plymouth Tourney win over Ft. Wayne Wayne (5-10) by a final of 6-0.
Girls tennis
Plymouth wins LaPorte Tourney, sweeps Lowell
The Plymouth girls tennis team beat both South Bend Washington and host LaPorte 4-1 to win the LaPorte Tournament Saturday. The Lady Pilgrims capped off the busy day with a 5-0 shutout of Lowell.
Plymouth’s wins came at 1 and 3 singles and 1 and 2 doubles in both LaPorte Tourney matches, while Mikayla German fell in two super tiebreakers at 2 singles.
