The moment of truth has arrived.
âThe final will be about taking a risk,â said Plymouth native Morgan Uceny from a secluded spot underneath Daegu Stadium in Daegu, South Korea, early Tuesday morning. âYou canât win without taking a risk.â
At 7:55 a.m. Thursday (EDT), the 2003 Plymouth High School graduate will toe the starting line with 11 other women seeking a Gold Medal in the 1500-meter run at the IAAF World Track & Field Championships.

Bremen wins 3-way with Triton, LaVille
Bremen put five runners in the top eight to beat both Triton and LaVille in a three-way Northern State Conference boys cross country meet at Triton Tuesday.
Thomas Dean and Jack Jordan finished two-three for the Lions, while Byce Wanemacker and Treton Cooper went four-five for second-place Triton, and Nick Amor paced the race with a 17:43 for LaVille.

BREMEN â Faced with last-minute revelations of injury, the young NorthWood boys tennis team had to shuffle its lineup around.
Despite an untested partnership, Shawn Stahley and Austin Sanders were competitive at No. 2 doubles, taking seven games from their opponents, but it was too little and too late as Bremen swept the visiting Panthers in a 5-0 home win at DeSantis Courts in Bremen Monday.
NOBLESVILLE â With an old, tried and true putter back in his bag that helped him get his last win in 2009, Dave Pugh of Mystic Hills fired off a 5-under-par 67 at Purgatory Golf Club in Noblesville to win the final Pepsi Club Car Tournament Series of the year.
âI switched back just today to the same putter that I used to win back-to-back Pepsi Championships in 2008 and â09 â a short putter,â explained Pugh. âMost of my birdies were from within six feet today, but I made a long putt on 17 too.â
Along with the putter, Pughâs caddie was also successful on the greens.

LaVille loses at Goshen
LaVille fell in a three-game match on the road at Goshen Monday 25-12, 25-14, 25-15.
Kelsey Gurtner and Lynae Hostrawser led the Lady Lancers at the net with respective kill tallies of seven and six in addition to five blocks apiece.
Kaitlyn Phillips and Shelby Low each served up two aces and put away four and three kills, respectively, while Katie Berger led the team in setting with 12 assists, and Kyla Coblentz put 12 digs on target.
LaVille will resume play tonight as it hosts NorthWood.

CRAWFORDSVILLE â When J.D. Taylor passed away the day before the first annual J.D. Taylor Benefit Golf Scramble, his family had a choice to make: cancel the event or carry on with it in his memory.
Luckily for the Grindle family, Taylorâs family chose the latter.
The Third Annual J.D. Taylor Golf Scramble will take place Saturday, Sept. 17 at Rocky Ridge Golf Club in Crawfordsville, and all proceeds from the event will benefit eight-month old Landon Grindle, the son of 1999 Plymouth High School graduate and former Argos High School Boys Basketball coach Joel Grindle and his wife.
BREMEN â Itâs been an exciting start to the 2011 football season for the Bremen Lions.
After breaking a 23-year drought against Plymouth in Week 1, they went on to earn a program-first win at Tippecanoe Valley Friday. Now, Bremenâs Sept. 9 game with Triton has been chosen as the second game on the Indianapolis Coltsâ Friday Night Football Tour.
DAEGU, South Korea â Morgan Uceny needed only to advance from her qualifying heat at the IAAF World Track & Field Championships.
So she did.
Uceny, a 2003 Plymouth High School graduate, ran conservatively and settled for a third-place finish in the third of three preliminary races as she began her quest to win a gold medal in the womenâs 1500-meter run Saturday night.
Now, itâs on to the semifinals, scheduled at 7:35 a.m. (EDT) Tuesday at Daegu Stadium in Daegu, South Korea.
ARGOS â Munster outlasted Argos 3-1 in the championship game of the Argos Invitational Saturday.
Melissa Strohl gave the Lady Mustangs a lead midway through the first period, but Sammie Hopkins answered with a blast from 35 yards out just minutes later. Argos, with an enrollment of 215 students, had the first half edge over Munster, which boasts an enrollment of 1616: Strohlâs goal was the Mustangsâ only shot on goal of the opening frame, with the Dragons getting four.
The second half saw the reverse, however, as Munster put seven shots on goal to one by Argos.

Plymouth places 4th at home tourney
The Plymouth volleyball team went 2-2 at its home Powerball Tournament to finish fourth place out of a talented field of eight teams, while Indiana Coaches of Girls Sports Association Class 2A, No. 1-rated Muncie Burris beat Penn 25-21, 25-19 for the tourney title Saturday.
