ARGOS â The Argos girls soccer team fell to Class A, No. 5 Mishawaka Marian 3-1 at home Monday night.
The Lady Knights showed the reason for their high ranking, outshooting the hosts 10-3. Maggie Hartnagel gave the visitors a quick start, notching a goal in the sixth minute. Marianâs Gabby Veldman scored twice, once assisted by her sister Denise, to spot the Knights a 3-0 lead with 30 minutes to play in the game.

Lady Falcons beat Bremen
John Glenn beat Bremen in three games 25-23, 25-11, 25-14 at Bremen Monday.
Brooke Baker led the Lady Lions attack with six kills, an ace and three blocks to go with six digs, while Allie Shorter set 12 assists with six digs, and Taylor Lashbrook recorded three kills, five digs and two blocks.
The Lions fall to 3-13 with the loss, while Glenn moves to an even 4-4 on the year.

WINONA LAKE â A 19th hole playoff is nerve-wracking enough, but facing off against one of your own teammates is even worse.
Culver Girls Academy freshman Mackenzie Toth beat out both teammate Samantha Seibel and Plymouthâs Lauren Rearick to earn the last individual berth out of the Warsaw Girls Golf Sectional Saturday.

Bremen places fourth in Class A New Prairie Invite
Bremen was bolstered by two top 20 performances to finish fourth in the Class A race at the New Prairie Invitational Saturday, while Triton placed eighth in the race, North Judson was 17th, and Culver Community, LaVille and Oregon-Davis also competed in the Class A event.
In the Class AA race, meanwhile, Culver Military Academy finished eighth, while John Glenn was 15th and Plymouth was 22nd.
PLYMOUTH â Janaâs Gymnastics helped the U.S. regain the world record for most participants doing a hand-stand simultaneously Saturday.
At exactly 1 p.m. EST, gymnasts at Janaâs joined the rest of a group of 20, 478 USA Gymnastics participants in breaking the existing record of 2,402 hand stands set by Australian gymnasts in 2005 in Melbourne.
Prior to the Australiansâ record-setting performance, the U.S. owned the record with 1,072 hand stands set as part of the build-up to the 2005 Visa National Gymnastics Championships.

ELKHART â The Rockies ran into a brick wall Friday night.
Brody Rosenberg tossed for 124 yards and three touchdowns, and Alex Brewers ran for 109 yards and one score, helping Elkhart Memorial post a 35-0 victory over Plymouth in Northern Lakes Conference football action at Charger Field.
Leading 7-0 early in the third quarter, the Chargers (3-2, 2-2 NLC) seized command by scoring a pair of touchdowns in a span of 90 seconds.
CULVER â For all the impressive numbers Bremenâs offense has generated this season, it was the Lionsâ defense that made the difference Friday.
The Bremen defensive unit held on two key goal line stands in the first and second quarters, and a scoreless first half came back to haunt the Cavaliers as Lions quarterback Nate Leeper connected with receiver Ben Hueni for a 37-yard go-ahead touchdown strike with just over a minute on the game clock to give the Green Machine a 20-13 homecoming spoiler on the road at Culver.

Just two weeks after she was knocked to the ground at the World Track & Field Championships in Korea, Uceny bounced back to win the womenâs 1500-meter run at Brussels, clocking the fastest time in the world this year, 4:00.06.
GRANGER â Area golfers battled some nerves at the Penn Sectional, and Bremen, John Glenn and LaVille closed out their seasons at Knollwood Country Club Friday.
No. 1-ranked Penn was led by dual low medal 76s from Karie Bellville and Anastasia Carter to claim its fourth straight sectional title with a 376 team score, while Marian placed second with a 376, and Adams grabbed the final ticket out to next weekâs LaPorte Regional with a 417.
Falcons surge past Trojans
Treavor Duff had a breakout game for John Glenn with 172 rushing yards, and the Falcons overcame an early score from Triton to claim a 62-7 Northern State Conference win at Bourbon Friday.
Triton went up 7-0 at the 10:24 mark of the first frame on a 38-yard pass from Bryson Mosier to D.J. Riffle, but it was Glennâs show from there on out as the Falcons racked up 553 total offensive yards to the Trojansâ 90 en route to nine touchdowns.
Mosier led Triton in rushing with 20 yards in nine carries, while Riffle gained 11 yards in one run.
