BOURBON — Triton football head coach Rodney Younis described quarterback Zak Shively as a general.
The senior signal caller certainly turned in a four-star performance at homecoming Friday.
Shively hit 18-of-25 passing attempts for 261 yards and a trio of touchdown passes, rushed for another, and scored on a two-point conversion run to lead the Trojans to their first win of the campaign by a convincing 41-0 count over winless LaVille in Northern State Conference action.
PLYMOUTH — One good half of football wasn’t enough to get the Plymouth High football team over the hump Friday night.
Five second-half turnovers proved to be costly for the Rockies as Concord rallied for 45-14 victory over Plymouth in Northern Lakes Conference action at the Rockpile.
Trailing 14-3 near the midway of the second quarter, the Minutemen (5-2, 5-0 NLC) managed to cut the deficit to four points at the break on a three-yard run by Jarrett Settles.
KNOX — Class 2A No. 6 Bremen is a challenge for a healthy lineup.
When your starting quarterback has to sit the game out and one of your fullbacks is also out with an injury, the result can be ugly.
The Lions put on a clinic on both sides of the ball at Knox, scoring on all but their first and last possession before marching out the reserves and holding the Redskins to just three first downs in a 53-0 homecoming spoiler at Knox Friday.

Culver falls at Jimtown
Jimtown scored three touchdowns in the second quarter for an eventual 35-14 Northern State Conference win over Culver at Jimtown Friday.
The Jimmies snapped a 7-7 tie with a touchdown off an 84-yard kickoff at the 10:18 mark of the second frame and never looked back in the win.
Micah Budzinski scored Culver’s first touchdown on a 6-yard fumble return at the 10:32 stop of the second quarter to knot the game at 7-all with Collin Stevens’ PAT.
PLYMOUTH — Plymouth got a boost from juniors Amber Redinger and Andria Shook, and the Lady Pilgrims claimed a Northern Lakes Conference win over visiting Goshen at home on Senior Night Thursday.
SYRACUSE — The drought is finally over.
Blake Milliser scored twice for Plymouth, and the Rockies broke into the Northern Lakes Conference win column in their penultimate conference contest with a 3-1 comeback win at Wawasee Thursday.
The victory snaps a winless streak stretching all the way back to the Blueberry Tournament.
NOTRE DAME — If nothing else, the Princeton University women’s cross country team is looking forward to today’s Notre Dame Invitational so they can get away from the food at the cafeteria.
“The team is having dinner at my house the night after the race,” laughs senior team leader Alex Banfich, who is bringing the No. 22-ranked Tigers to her family’s home in Plymouth for some real Hoosier eatin’ Friday night.
First things first, though.

Plymouth is looking to snap a two-game skid against a tough Concord squad, while Bremen tries to keep its perfect season intact on the road at Knox, and Triton hosts LaVille in a match-up of winless Northern State Conference teams as Week 7 of the football season gets underway Friday.
After a 3-1 start to the season, the Rockies (3-3, 2-2 NSC) are reeling from a pair of losses on the road at Elkhart Memorial and Wawasee in Weeks 5 and 6. But the squad seems ready to bounce back for its homecoming match-up against the Northern Lakes Conference-leading Minutemen (4-2, 3-0) this week.
