PLYMOUTH — It was back into the win column for Plymouth’s Lady Pilgrims over an NLC opponent as they beat the Warsaw Lady Tigers in a defensive slug fest Thursday, 32-26.
Both teams struggled to find anything offensively as each defense clamped down in drastically different ways — Plymouth in their patented man-to-man and Warsaw with a 2-3 zone. In the end the Plymouth offense was spurred by — what else? — tighter defense.
Rockies stay perfect in NLC
Plymouth’s wrestling team kept its Northern Lakes Conference record perfect with a dominant 57-12 win on the road at NorthWood Thursday night.
The Rockies won in 11 of 14 weight classes, including six by pinfall and one by tech fall as they moved to 4-0 in the NLC with a 12-1 overall slate.
Osman Solis, Cody Allmon, Kam Markovich and Triston Rodriguez all scored pinfall wins between 113 and 132 pounds, while Aaron Houin and Drew Dodson won by fall at 182 and heavyweight.
PLYMOUTH — In a game of runs, Glenn’s Lady Falcons jumped to a lead and held off Plymouth’s Lady Pilgrims for a win at Plymouth on Tuesday night, 42-31.
Glenn stayed unbeaten at 7-0 with the win and executed its game plan, keeping ahead of the Lady Pilgrims (6-2) with runs of 14-0 in the first half and a 10-0 run in the fourth quarter after Plymouth was able to pull back within a point in the late parts of that stanza.
BOURBON — With Saturday’s snow-out versus Marian, Triton was facing a week-long layover between games. But if head coach Jason Groves felt any concern about how his team might play after its time off, the Trojans quickly put those fears to rest Tuesday night.
In fact, after a 51-19 first half, the only real question remaining at halftime of Triton’s contest with visiting Bethany Christian was whether or not the home team would reach the century mark.
CULVER — The Culver Community Cavaliers weathered an early storm from beyond the arc and defeated the Winamac Warriors 60-54. The Warriors opened the game with the shooting touch, going 7-of-11 from 3-point range and opened up the game with a 23-10 first quarter lead.Â
Argos wins 4th straight
The Lady Dragons had three players in double figures, led by Courtney Dunlap’s 21 points, and Argos beat Culver Girls Academy 69-59 in a girls basketball game at Fleet Gymnasium Tuesday.
Libby Moyer finished with 15, and Val Rospopo scored 12 as Argos moved to 5-3 on the season with its fourth straight win.
CGA was led offensively by Marie Steiner’s 19 points followed by Tori Styers’ 15 and Victoria Christlieb’s 12 as the Lady Eagles dropped their second straight.

The 5-11 senior scored 18 points with three rebounds, two assists and two steals as the Panthers walloped Elkhart Central 60-18. The Youngstown State signee followed with 33 points and 18 rebounds in a 64-50 win over Elkhart Memorial. Over both games, Olson converted 18-of-31 shots from the floor and 15-of-20 free throws.
