Goshen takes 4-2 win from Lady Rockies

September 13, 2013

PLYMOUTH — There’s a commonly held belief among soccer cognoscenti that the most dangerous minutes in a game are those at the start of a contest, those that directly follow a goal and those that immediately precede halftime.
That certainly proved to be the case in Plymouth’s girls soccer game with Goshen Thursday.

‘Smash Cancer’ a smashing success

September 12, 2013

BREMEN — When Bremen tennis coach Andrew Rohde first heard about the ‘Smash Cancer’ fundraising program at the Indiana High School Tennis Coaches Association’s Indiana Tennis Convention last winter, his thoughts immediately went to Plymouth.
It turns out Plymouth coach Michael Delp was also thinking about Bremen for a fundraising event.
The win went in the record books for Plymouth, but the real winner at Wednesday’s tennis meet between the Pilgrims and the Lions was the battle against cancer.

Rockies look to bounce back against undefeated Northridge this week

September 12, 2013

PLYMOUTH — Analyzing a loss on the road last week has been simple for Plymouth Rockies head coach John Barron and his staff.
“What we saw on film was really everything we saw live,” said Barron. “They made some big plays at critical times, and we had trouble tackling in the open field.”

Lady Cavaliers down Argos in three

September 11, 2013

CULVER — Coming into Tuesday night’s match with area rival Argos on the heels of a disappointing conference-opening loss to Triton last Thursday, the Culver Community volleyball team set a goal to put away the Dragons in three games.
The Lady Cavs jumped off to a fast start in the opening game and never once surrendered the lead, although Argos did tie the game up on four separate occasions. By the third set, the hosts had seemed to take some of the wind out of the Dragons’ sails, and Culver claimed a 25-22, 25-19, 25-15 win at home at John R. Nelson Gymnasium.
