KNOX — Even after suffering a loss to Culver early in their Northern State Conference schedule, the Trojans knew they weren’t out of the hunt for an NSC title. They simply put the loss behind them and kept fighting.
Triton avoided a letdown on the road against a struggling Knox squad Friday, jumping out to a fast start and cruising to the NSC co-championship with a 76-37 win at Harold Weinberg Gymnasium.
The Trojans thus finish up league play at 6-1, tied with New Prairie for the NSC crown.
BREMEN — The Bremen Lions sent out their seniors on a high note as they held the Culver Cavaliers in check beating them by a score of 62-44.
Bremen started the game out strong, going on a 10-2 run, led by senior Don Browning’s two 3-pointers. They were able to keep that going and closed out the quarter with a 14-6 lead.
The lead stayed at eight for most of the second quarter and then at the 3:37 mark, senior Ethan Pike went on an 8-2 run on his own for the Lions, helping push them to a 36-18 half time lead. Pike outscored the Cavaliers 19-18 in the half and finished with 30 in the game.
LAKEVILLE — Senior Night didn’t proceed quite the way LaVille boys basketball head coach Michael Edison drew it up.
It turned out even better.
The Lancers held visiting Jimtown scoreless until the 6:09 mark of the second quarter and locked the Jimmies out of double figures until the opening ticks of the fourth quarter en route to a 56-22 Northern State Conference cakewalk at Dale E. Cox Gymnasium Friday.
