PLYMOUTH â€” Plymouthâ€™s wrestling team had been waiting a year for another shot at Elkhart Memorial following last yearâ€™s shutout at the hands of the Chargers.
The Rockies made the most of their opportunity Thursday, topping Memorial 39-31 in a back-and-forth thriller between Northern Lakes Conference unbeatens at home at The Rock.
BOURBON â€” With Clay Yeo out with a concussion, the Triton Trojans were able to come up with a strong defensive effort to defeat the Elkhart Christian Academy Eagles 44-37 Thursday at the Trojan Trench.
Triton coach Jason Groves knew that their defense would be what would keep the Trojans in this game.
ELKHART â€” The Plymouth High School gymnastics team opened its 2013 campaign Thursday night at Elkhart Central with the Blue Blazer Invitational.
The season started on a high note for the Lady Pilgrims as they claimed both the team title and the pairs title at the five-team invite.
Plymouth defeated the host Blue Blazers 99.1 to 98.9 to claim the championship. Wawasee was third with a 93.55, Lakeland fourth with a 90.85, and Warsaw finished in fifth with a 89.8.
Glenn survives Marian
John Glenn's girls basketball team held Marian to two points in overtime, surviving a tough road contest 55-50 to rattle off its 11th straight win Thursday night.
Katie Dreessen put up 15 points, and Carah Ochs scored 10, but the Lady Falcons saw eight different players make the score sheet.
Katie Barnard led Marian with a game-high 23 for the night.
Glenn moved to 11-1 with the win, while Marian slipped to 7-7.
The Falcons will travel to Triton for a Northern State Conference match-up tonight at 8 p.m.
