Lafferty sets 2 records as Lady Lions beat Marian
Katie Lafferty set two new pool records in the 50 and 100 freestyles, and the Lady Lions handed visiting Marian a 133-48 defeat in their home pool in Bremen Monday.
Lafferty clocked a 24.87 in the 50 and a 54.1 in the 100 on her way to four wins for the evening as she also swam anchor on her team’s winning 200 medley and 400 free relay squads.
LIGONIER — With a long layover since their last meet and a change of equipment at West Noble, Plymouth’s gymnastics team had to shake off a little rust Monday.
The Lady Pilgrims performed well enough to get the road win, defeating the Chargers, 95.9-81.275. The team had last competed nine days prior when they defeated Lowell in their first dual meet of the year.
A host of area football players received Academic All-State nominations as the Indiana Football Coaches Association released its annual list recently.
Plymouth’s Adam Lacefiled and Christian Wiers both made the list, while Culver Community also saw a pair of players named in Allen Betts and Micah Budzinski.
Culver Military received four Academic All-State distinctions in Beau Eckstein, Eric Maudhuit, Frank Slykas and Caleb Jadrich, and Triton’s D.J. Riffle also made the team.
