Bremen senior Ethan Pike poured in 35 points, and Bremen edged out Fairfield in overtime at the Banker’s Life Fieldhouse in Indianapolis Friday, 58-54. Pike is averaging 23.3 points per game.
Argos senior post Kayla Prochno posted a double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds to help the Dragons to a 52-38 win over West Central in the Winter Classic. She scored a team-high 15 points in the tournament finale Saturday, a 66-44 loss to Kankakee Valley.
Plymouth residents will long-remember Morgan Uceny’s anguish at the 2012 London Olympics.
The Plymouth High School graduate tripped and fell to the track just as she was moving into position to win a Gold Medal in the women’s 1500-meter run.
But a track athlete’s season is more than one race, and while the Olympics didn’t go the way she hoped, Uceny was a key player in the other places she ran during 2012.
So much so that Track & Field News magazine has ranked Uceny No. 8 in the world in its year-end wrap-up.
Uceny is ranked No. 2 among women’s 1500-meter runners in the United States.
