PLYMOUTH — Even after a slow start, Plymouth had chances to put the Panthers away.
But instead, NorthWood’s defense pestered the Class 3A No. 9 Pilgrims into 12 turnovers for 12 points in the final two frames, and the Panthers stole a 69-63 overtime win in a Northern Lakes Conference opener between undefeated teams Friday night at The Rock.
CULVER — Fact No. 1: Class A No. 3 Oregon-Davis dispatched Culver Girls Academy’s basketball team by a wide margin Friday night.
Fact No. 2: You might be hard-pressed to deduce Fact No. 1 from listening to the opposing coaches’ postgame reactions.
With CGA standout Andrijana Cvitkovic sidelined by a concussion, the visiting Lady Cats used a second-quarter spurt to shrug off a sluggish start and race past the Eagles 75-34 at Fleet Gymnasium but not necessarily inspire the boss.
BOURBON — The Triton Trojans defense came to play as they beat the New Prairie Cougars 51-27 in a Northern State Conference boys basketball tilt at the Trojan Trench Friday night.
It was a close game for most of the first half with Triton leading by only two at the end of the first quarter with the score 11-9. Both teams were still trying to figure out how best to stop the others’ offensive attack.

ARGOS — The Argos Lady Dragons suffered through a poor shooting night at Phil Weybright Gymnasium as the North Judson Lady Jays beat them 47-41 Thursday.Â
After playing and shooting so well on Tuesday against Culver Girls Academy, Argos didn't quite have the same intensity level against North Judson and Coach Gary Teel felt that was a contributing factor.Â
PLYMOUTH — It was a good night for Rockies wrestling — good turnout, good performances and a good result.
Plymouth grapplers got off to a fast start with four first-round pinfalls and a major decision to jump out to an early lead against visiting NorthWood, coasting to an eventual 61-9 Northern Lakes Conference victory in front of a lively home crowd on a special Alumni Night at The Rock.

BOURBON — Shana Anderson made her return for Triton Wednesday, and just in the nick of time for the Lady Trojans.
The senior swing player completed a five-game suspension in the first quarter, returning to the floor in the second quarter, but after such a long layover it took her awhile to shake off the rust.
