DEMOTTE — The Argos girls soccer team came back from a 0-3 hole to earn a draw with Kankakee Valley in the opener for both squads in DeMotte Tuesday.
Haley Cox’s corner kick was not cleared by Argos, and Stephanie Scally found the ball at her foot and put the hosts on the board in the 28th minute. With under two minutes to play in the first half, Haleigh Wenglarz scored on a long ball from Ivy Fase and the Kougars grabbed a 2-0 edge at the intermission.

Plymouth falls in 4 in opener at LaPorte
Plymouth’s volleyball team lost its opener on the road to perennial power LaPorte Tuesday in four close sets, 25-22, 20-25, 25-13, 25-23.
Marissa German played a balanced match for the Lady Pilgrims with 12 kills and eight digs, while Andria Shook finished with nine kills and four aces. Amber Redinger put away nine kills with three blocks. Haley Harrell led the team in setting with 25 assists on the night.

CULVER — A total of 246 people participated in the Lake Max Triathlon on Saturday.
Jacob Bingham, 19, was the overall winner with a time of 52 minutes, 56.7 seconds for the course.Jennifer Zimmer, 35, was the overall women’s winner with a time of 1:05:16.2, good for 14th place overall.
The triathletes were tested by a course featuring a 400-meter swim in Lake Maxinkuckee, a 10-mile bike ride around the lake and a five-kilometer (3.1 miles) run along the lake. There were 183 individual participants and another 63 involved with men’s, women’s and co-ed teams.
