KNOX â€” A sleeping giant woke up Friday night.
After two straight games where its offense sputtered and stalled, John Glennâ€™s running game finally showed up in a 32-18 romp over Knox.
Derek Hiler rushed for 133 yards and a touchdown, Adam Dodson had 56 yards and two touchdowns, and Zach Combes scored a touchdown while gaining 96 yards of his own to lift the Falcons to their first victory of the high school football season.
Lions lose 2nd straight in NSC opener at New Prairie
Defending Northern State Conference champion Bremen gave up 34 points in the second half â€” including three scores in the third quarter â€” and the Lions lost their NSC opener at New Prairie Friday night, 41-14.
The Cougars chewed up 318 rushing yards to 122 by Bremen, which gained most of its yards in the air as the Lions registered a 14-31-1 passing clip for 215 yards at the game, including touchdown passes of 12 and 34 yards from Kai Slough to Ethan Pike and Eric Knepper, respectively.
PLYMOUTH â€” Plymouth High Schoolâ€™s Northern Lakes Conference opener tonight will be WHME TVâ€™s featured football game of the week.
The game will be broadcast tonight on TV-46 at 11 p.m. and a repeat will be shown Saturday morning at 9 a.m.

BOURBON â€” After Culver evened its Northern State Conference match with Triton at a game apiece Thursday, Lady Trojans volleyball coach Samantha Keel gave her players some sound advice: Put the ball where theyâ€™re not.
The simple but effective strategy proved successful, and Triton rattled off wins in the third and fourth games to put the visitors away 25-14, 22-25, 25-19, 25-16 for an NSC win at The Trojan Trench.
Plymouth draws at Goshen
Plymouthâ€™s boys soccer team snapped a three-game skid with a 0-0 draw at Northern Lakes Conference foe Goshen Thursday.
The Rockies were outshot 24-13 but Zach Lee made eight saves in goal to keep the slate blank.
Plymouth moves to 0-1-1 in conference play and 1-3-2 overall.

Reynoso lifts Lions
BOURBON â€” Teams throughout the area open their conference schedules this week, and two of them â€” Triton and Culver â€” are not only looking to open up their Northern State Conference slate with a win, but are still searching for their first victories of the season.
Triton has been right in both of its losses to Caston and Northfield, while Culver Community has found itself on the wrong end of some surprisingly lopsided losses to West Central and South Central (Union Mills).
LAKEVILLE â€” LaVilleâ€™s girls soccer team started the season with hopes of a repeat Northern State Conference championship.
Theyâ€™re off to a pretty good start.
The Lady Lancers took care of business quickly against visiting John Glenn Wednesday, jumping out to a 2-0 lead less than seven minutes into the match en route to a 5-0 halftime lead and eventual 6-0 victory over the Falcons at Newton Park.
They remain unblemished in conference play at 3-0 with the win.
Plymouth wins in 3
Plymouthâ€™s volleyball team earned a lopsided three-game victory on the road at Riley Wednesday night, 25-8, 25-11, 25-13.
Amber Redinger finished with nine kills and six blocks at the net for the Lady Pilgrims, while Andria Shook tallied nine kills and 11 digs.
Haley Harrell served up 24 assists and Emily Eveland registered eight digs for Plymouth, which approached .500 at 4-5 on the season.

PLYMOUTH â€” The Plymouth Aquatics Club is hosting a Pre Stomp Blueberry Festival Spaghetti Supper on Sunday from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the Knights of Columbus Council 1975 in Plymouth. The supper will feature special guest speaker Brenda Uceny, mother of Olympian Morgan Uceny.
The supper is an all-you-can-eat pasta with homemade sauce, bread and dessert to raise funds for the Plymouth Aquatics Club for training equipment/facilities and scholarships for athletes.
