PLYMOUTH — The Plymouth Post 27 Diamond Spyders picked up another win last night to run its season-opening win streak to three games with a 5-3 decision over Crown Point Post 20.
The Diamond Spyders used a big first inning to get the job done, plating all five of their runs in the first and holding on for the win at home at Bill Nixon Field.
“We looked good offensively in the first inning,” said Plymouth coach Tony Plothow. “It looked like we lost focus at the plate in the later part of the game, and we can’t have that against some of the other teams that we will face this year.”Â
FRANKLIN — LaVille golfer Zach Gurtner just wanted to make state once before he finished his high school career.
The Lancer sophomore fired off a 1-under-par 71 last Friday at the LaPorte Regional at Beechwood to earn himself a ticket out to Tuesday’s state finals at the Legends Golf Club in Franklin, where he closed out a strong season with an 82.
