McNeil signs with Coast Guard Academy

April 13, 2012

PLYMOUTH — Plymouth senior Ryan McNeil isn’t one to take the easy road.
The 6’4” shooting guard was fine-tuning his shot long before the Pilgrims started their 2011-12 campaign. During the season, the co-MVP helped set the pace for his teammates at practice and on the game floor, a pace which helped push Plymouth to a 16-6 finish.
McNeil signed on to play basketball at the U.S. Coast Guard Academy this week, and if the demands of a regular collegiate student-athlete aren’t enough, adding on the demands of attending a service academy makes for an especially challenging experience.

April 13, 2012

PLYMOUTH — The Plymouth softball team picked up its third straight win Friday, defeating Tippecanoe Valley 10-0 in a game shortened to six innings by the runs-ahead rule.
Britney Horvath picked up her first varsity win in the circle with a one-hit shutout, fanning eight while allowing just two walks and not allowing any Valley runners beyond first base.
Kailey Whitley gave Horvath the only run she needed in the bottom of the first when her sharp single to left was misplayed by the Valley left fielder, allowing the Lady Pilgrims’ leadoff hitter to circle the bases and put Plymouth up 1-0.

Sullivan struck out the side in the first two innings of the game, allowing only one Falcon to reach base safely by a fielding error. She struck out the side two more times in the game, once in the fourth and again in the seventh inning to seal the win for Plymouth.
