The Oregon-Davis girls basketball team breaks from a timeout during the team's Sectional 51 opener with Culver Community at The Den Feb. 8. The Lady Cats unseated the Cavaliers â€” who had ended a string of four straight sectional championships by OD the previous year â€” on their way to the title on their home floor.
INDIANAPOLIS â€” Two Plymouth High School boys basketball players and one Bremen player were named to the Indiana Basketball Coaches Associationâ€™s annual Academic All-State Honorable Mention list.
Plymouth seniors Ryan McNeil and John Ruff and Bremen senior Mitch Huppert were all given the IBCA distinction Monday, while North Judsonâ€™s John Eckert was named to the first team list.
In all, 57 seniors across the state were chosen for first team Academic All-State honors, while an additional 146 boys and 148 girls were selected for the honorable mention distinction.

8 Lions compete at HSR meet
Eight Bremen boys competed at the Hoosier State Indoor Relays at Indiana Wesleyan University in Marion on Saturday.
Josh Brenneman placed fourth in the long jump with a distance of 20â€™1/2â€ť, while he and Zack Renner, Sam Lacher and Ryan Zellmer finished seventh in the 4X200 relay with a time of 1:36.07, and Brenneman, Zelmer, Renner and Aaron McKenzie placed 15th in the 4X400 relay with a 3:41.37 time.
Also for the Lions Thomas Dean was 29th in the 3200 with a 10:24.23 time, and Zellmer and Jake Smith both competed in the high jump.
John Glennâ€™s Josh Anderson was named All-Northern State Conference for the Falcons last week. He was the lone first team pick for Glenn, which placed third in the NSC, after powering his team with 16.3 points an outing in his senior season.
Culver Girls Academyâ€™s Andrijana Cvitkovic was named to the IBCAâ€™s Girls Underclass All-State first team after averaging 13.57 points per game for the Lady Eagles this season. The junior is one of just 15 underclass players in the state to receive the honor.

Lincoln loses closer with Urey in 2OT
The eighth grade Lady Redstorm lost their last game of the season in double overtime to Urey, ending the season with a 10-8 record.
Kara Morwood got fouled with .01 seconds to go in regulation and hit a free throw to send it in to the first overtime.
Leading the way in scoring for the Redstorm was Shannon Stephenson with 14 points. Lexi Mahabeer put in an outstanding defensive performance and chipped in six points.

PLYMOUTH â€”Â Five Plymouth Aquatics Club Sharks earned top spots at the Indiana Northwest Divisional Championship recently at Crown Point High School to claim berths to the Indiana Age Group State Championship meet this weekend in Indianapolis.
Will Serf, a veteran of championship meets, returns to swim the 100 and 200 backstroke and the 200 butterfly. He will also celebrate his 14th birthday on Saturday.
â€śI believe this is the second time Will and I have celebrated his birthday together on the Natatorium pool deck,â€ť said Sharks head coach Leanne Senter.
WALKERTON â€” Kyle Pletcher, a 2006 John Glenn grad, spends his days as an accountant with Cardno JFNew in Walkerton. But by night â€” and in any other time he can find â€” Pletcher is a runner. Whether itâ€™s on the treadmill at LifePlex in Plymouth, or outside near his home, Pletcher spends about two hours running every day.
Right now, heâ€™s working toward an ambitious goal â€“the Boston Marathon, one of the most well known racing events in the world. The race attracts hundreds of thousands of spectators and thousands of participants each year.
