Bremen’s Nolan Filchak won the 100 butterfly at the South Bend Riley Boys Swim Sectional Saturday to earn the Lions’ sole berth to the state swim finals next weekend.
Oregon-Davis sophomore guard Alicia McIntosh put up a combined 25 points in two games for the Lady Cats in their Class A Caston Regional games Saturday.
The IHSAA announced the drawings for its 102nd Annual Boys Basketball State Sectionals Sunday with 401 teams placed into brackets, and specific times and dates yet to be set by the host sites.

FULTON — Oregon-Davis put Morgan Township away with an 18-0 run spanning from the end of the second quarter through most of the third to reach the championship with a 43-28 semifinal win, but the Lady Cats couldn’t recover from a slow start against top-ranked Canterbury to fall 64-45 in the title game at the Caston Girls Basketball Regional Saturday.

INDIANAPOLIS — Bremen’s Abraham Hall scored a takedown over Elkhart Central’s Dominique Stauffer with 1:08 remaining for a 3-1 decision and the heavyweight championship at the 74th Annual IHSAA State Wrestling Finals Saturday.
Hall, who entered the finals ranked No. 2 in the state by Indianamat.com, beat No. 1-rated Kaden Suter of Martinsville in triple overtime in the semifinals to advance to the title match before finishing off an unblemished 50-0 season with the championship. He was also named the winner of the Ward E. Brown Mental Attitude Award.

Filchak wins fly at Riley
Penn won the South Bend Riley Sectional with 480 points, while Bremen placed sixth with 170 points Saturday.
Nolan Filchak earned the Lions their lone state finals berth with a top finish in the butterfly, where he topped the field with a time of 52.58.
