WARSAW — What a difference a week can make. Unfortunately for Plymouth’s girls soccer team, it wasn’t quite enough to put the Lady Rockies over the top.
Taylor Stuzman scored twice for the Lady Panthers, and the Rockies lost a 2-1 decision to Northern Lakes Conference rival NorthWood in a back-and-forth semifinal at the Warsaw Sectional Thursday.
Plymouth’s players entered the game with the memory of a lopsided 5-0 loss to the Panthers last Tuesday still fresh in their minds. They gave themselves a chance Thursday, but couldn’t quite find the right combination to come away with a win.
CULVER — It was deja vu all over again for Culver Military Academies Eagles.
Or is it deja, deja vu?
CMA’s championship tennis match with Warsaw echoed an earlier defeat of Warsaw at the start of the season, and the No. 14-ranked Eagles won their third straight regional title at their home tournament, 4-1 against the Tigers at the Gable Tennis Complex Thursday in a championship match rescheduled from Wednesday due to rain.
DeMOTTE — Raelynn LaFrance notched a hat trick ,and Jami Patterson added a pair of tallies as Argos advanced to the Covenant Christian Soccer Sectional final with a 5-0 shutout of Rensselaer Central Thursday.
The Dragons had opening possession and five minutes passed before the ball entered Argos’ defensive half. Despite dominating play, the Dragons went 28 scoreless minutes against a packed-in Bomber defense.
