Plymouthâ€™s Nate Kolter beat LaVilleâ€™s Zach Gurtner in a playoff on Hole 10 at Round Barn Golf Club in Rochester to win the Boys 14-15 division of a Marshall County Junior Golf Tour event.
Kolter and Gurtner both shot 80 at the Par 72 course to go one-two, respectively, at the event, while Culverâ€™s Trent Elliott finished third in the division three strokes back.
PLYMOUTH â€” LaVilleâ€™s Lauren Read won her fifth Marshall County Junior Golf Tour event of the year with a 58 atop the Girls 12-14 division as a total of 71 golfers in eight boys and girls divisions participated at Tri-Way Golf Course Friday.
LaVilleâ€™s Zach Gurtner shot a 1-over-par 36 on the front side at Tri-Way on his way to a winning 74 for the Boys 15-16 division championship, and Plymouthâ€™s Amanda McPherron won the Girls 15-17 division with a score of 79, three stokes ahead of the rest of the field.
Another big race, another big victory for Plymouth grad Morgan Uceny.
And now, the rest of the world is taking notice.
On Sunday, Uceny clocked 4:05.64 to win the womenâ€™s 1500-meter run at a Diamond League track meet in Birmingham, England.
PLYMOUTH â€” Post 27 snapped a three-game skid on the night before starting its annual trip to Minnesota, and even more heartening for the team, it did so with a modified lineup.
After entering the championship doubleheader at its first annual Patriot Tournament over the holiday weekend on a 10-game winning streak, Plymouth dropped three games straight, costing it the tourney championship Monday and a home game against South Bend Post 50 on Tuesday.

PLYMOUTH â€”Â Plymouth Post 27 celebrated the Fourth of July with a runner-up finish at the teamâ€™s first annual Patriot Tournament.
It wasnâ€™t quite the finish the hosts hoped for as they dropped a championship doubleheader to tourney champion East Lansing capped off by a 14-8 nine-inning loss in game two, but Post 27 claimed a solid 5-2 tourney finish for second place in the quality eight-team field Monday.
PLYMOUTH â€” A total of 70 golfer converged on the Plymouth Country Club for a Marshall County Junior Golf Tour event Thursday.
Area winners were John Schenk of Plymouth, Cole McKinney of Triton, Lauren Read of LaVille and Abby Manikowski of Argos.
Schenk won the Boys 10-11 division with a score of 27, four strokes ahead of LaVilleâ€™s Matt Butler, while McKinney won the Boys 8-9 competition with a score of 24, three strokes better than Andrew Himes of St. Michaelâ€™s.
LAUSANNE, Switzerland â€” Morgan Uceny kept her win streak alive Thursday by placing first in the womenâ€™s 1500-meter run at an international track meet in Lausanne, Switzerland.
Uceny, a 2003 Plymouth High School graduate, clocked 4:05.52 in the Diamond League contest. Anna Mishchenko of the Ukraine, a 2008 Olympian, finished second in 4:06.00.
