Triton freshman Kylie Mason scored 11 points as the Lady Trojans beat Plymouth 39-37 Thursday.
Bremen’s Braxston Miller wrapped up an outstanding high school career Friday as he finished with 60 all-purpose yards in the Lions’ loss to Fort Wayne Bishop Luers at the Class 2A Northern Semistate.
TERRE HAUTE — One is winding down her college career, the other just getting started.
Both say they are feeling fine, now, following injuries that set them back at the start of the season.
Each chose an Ivy League college to attend, and at an historic conference championship meet a couple weeks ago — run in a driving snowstorm — they finished the race almost side-by-side.
Now, Alex Banfich and Waverly Neer will square off against each other at today’s NCAA cross country championships, on the same course where each made her mark in high school.

CMA wins home super duals
Culver Military Academy went 5-0 to win its home Early Bird Super Duals meet Saturday, while Plymouth finished second with a 4-1 record, and Knox placed fifth at 1-4.
Culver finished with four weight class champions in Kayla Miracle at 113, David Zajac at 126, Anthony McHugh at 138 and Pascal Brun at 145 pounds.
Plymouth had one individual champion in DeAndre Pickford at heavyweight, while Osman Solis, Kameron Markovich, Jacob Segraves and Corey Wallace all went 4-1 on the day.
Triton students cheer on their girls basketball team during the Lady Trojans' game with Argos Tuesday.
FORT WAYNE — Turn-overs are trouble against any opponent.
Against two-time defending state champ Fort Wayne Bishop Luers, they were a killer.
The Knights capitalized with scores on each of Bremen’s three turnovers — including a backbreaking pair of miscues in the fourth quarter — and the Lions’ dream run to semistate ended in a 35-21 loss to Luers on the road in Fort Wayne Friday night.
PLYMOUTH — Plymouth girls basketball fans might not see many faces they recognize on the floor this season.
The Lady Pilgrims return one starter in junior forward Amber Redinger and one other player with meaningful varsity playing time in fellow junior and guard Lauren Tanner. Beyond that, the team is mostly new.
BOURBON — The Lady Trojans may be young, but that doesn’t mean they’re inexperienced.
LAKEVILLE — LaVille’s girls basketball team possesses plenty of experienced post power.
How quickly the Lancers’ less seasoned guards mature will probably go a long way toward determining whether or not the team improves upon last year’s 8-12 finish.
“I expect us to play inside-out,” LaVille head coach Kevin McCullough said. “We have a lot of depth in the post. Teams are going to put pressure on us until we show we can handle it. Teams are going to try to do something to equalize our post play.”
