Miller earns 3 finals cuts at NLC prelims

MIDDLEBURY — In the middle of the Northern Lakes Conference field, Plymouth has had to fight tooth-and-nail for two of its three NLC victories this season, and the road didn’t get much easier against a talented field at Thursday’s conference championship prelims.
The Lady Pilgrims were sitting at an even 3-3 in the conference heading into Thursday’s meet after a dominant 109-74 win over NorthWood and close victories against Wawasee and Goshen.

Richie’s patience pays off as Bobcats defeat Dragons, 80-74

HAMLET — Oregon-Davis junior point guard Zach Richie waited for the game to come to him Thursday against Argos.
And when it did, he latched on and never relinquished control.
After distributing the ball for four assists in the first half, Richie, the state’s leading scorer, exploded for 35 of his game-high 47 points in the second half — 22 in the fourth quarter alone — to lead the Bobcats to an 80-74 boys hoops win over the Dragons at The Den.

CGA’s Neer named Gatorade Indiana Cross Country Runner of the Year for 2nd straight year

CULVER — The awards continued pouring in for Culver Girls Academy senior Waverly Neer as she was named the Gatorade/ESPN RISE Indiana Girls Cross Country Runner of the Year a second straight year Thursday.
The award, now in its 26th year, recognizes outstanding athletic excellence, high standards of academic achievement and exemplary character demonstrated on and off the race course. As a state runner of the year, Neer is now a finalist for the prestigious Gatorade National Girls Cross Country Runner of the Year award to be announced later this month.
