Triton shoots past Plymouth

December 1, 2010

PLYMOUTH — Just consider Clay Yeo Triton's one-time not-so-secret weapon off the bench.
Bumped from the starting lineup following a weekend bout with illness, the 6-foot-5 super sophomore erupted for 20 of his game-high 25 points in the second half and ripped down four rebounds to lead the Class A No. 2 Trojans to a 55-37 boys basketball win over Plymouth at The Rock Tuesday.
"We thought we'd give (Plymouth) the element of surprise," Triton head coach Jason Groves joked. "I'm sure they weren't expecting (Yeo) to do anything off the bench.

Falcons can't keep pace with athletic Wildcats

December 1, 2010

WALKERTON — John Glenn may eventually be able to use its team speed against opponents this year, but South Bend Riley gave the Falcons a dose of their own medicine Tuesday.
The athletic Wildcats showcased their quickness and athleticism while cranking up the tempo on both ends of the floor for a 79-49 victory in Walkerton.
"I know they don't want to run with us per se, but they also don't want to walk it," said Riley head boys basketball coach Mark Johnson. "I think we presented a tempo to where they were a little bit rushed. That's a credit to our young men."
