LAKEVILLE — The LaVille Boys Soccer Sectional first round hinged upon recovery and survival at Newton Park Thursday.
NorthWood, led by Ryan Lincoln’s hat trick, recovered from a 3-1 halftime deficit to eliminate Bremen 4-3, while defending sectional champion LaVille survived a late push from John Glenn to escape the nightcap with a 2-1 victory.
The Lancers and Panthers meet in Saturday’s title round at 7 p.m. at Newton Park.
ARGOS — It was a bad night for Marshall County teams at the Argos Boys Soccer Sectional.
First, defending sectional champ Warsaw coasted past the host Dragons for a 5-0 victory, and then an early mistake wound up costing the Plymouth Rockies their bid at a championship as they fell to Manchester 1-0.
BOURBON — It is nice to face a lesser foe on senior night. The Triton volleyball team was not so fortunate Thursday evening.
Jimtown put a damper on the festivities honoring Triton’s eight seniors with a 25-15, 25-18, 25-17 win, its 18th of the season.
“I’m really proud of the way the girls played tonight,” Triton coach Terrin Meister said. “We did do some great things, but we just have to get over that hump.”
Jimtown (18-6, 4-2 Northern State Conference) knew it had to overcome a motivated opponent.
