A week after breaking the Culver Girls Academy Regional record, CGAâ€™s Waverly Neer clocked a 17:53.9, breaking the New Prairie Semistate record to win the semistate race and lead her team to a fifth-place finish, which qualified the Lady Eagles for the state finals for the sixth time in seven years.
FORT WAYNE â€” The team season might be over for the Bremen girls cross country squad, but the stateâ€™s biggest race remains for one Lions senior.
Bremen finished 12th in Saturdayâ€™s New Haven cross country semi-state at The Plex, an expected result considering the quality of the 20-team field.
â€śWe knew our chances of going on as a team were slim,â€ť Bremen coach Mick Gardner said. â€śWe came here to have fun with it and enjoy it.â€ť
PLYMOUTH â€” As predicted, the teams with the better serve receive game won, and as anticipated, No. 7 Mishawaka Marian won its fourth straight sectional title while Plymouth and Culver Girls Academy bowed out in the semifinal round of play Saturday at the Class 3A Volleyball Sectional.
Plymouth fell in three competitive games 25-22, 25-19, 26-24 to the defending champion Lady Knights, while CGA also lost in the minimum of games in its semifinal with eventual tourney runner-up South Bend St. Josephâ€™s.
