CULVER – Culver Academies, Plymouth, and Triton cross country coaches each think their runners are capable of quicker times.
Thanks to their respective squads’ performances at the Culver Academies Cross Country Sectional Tuesday, those skippers can put those hypotheses to the test.
The Eagles pulled off their third consecutive boys-girls title sweep – the boys by a scant two points – while Plymouth and Triton also transferred both boys and girls clubs to Saturday’s regional meet, also at Culver.
PLYMOUTH 3, CULVER 1
Plymouth missed a penalty kick less than 3 minutes in and it nearly came back to haunt the Rockies.
Up 2-0 after goals by Kendra Reininga — her first of the season and Plymouth's first Tuesday in the 20th minute — and Krista Vanlue, Culver striker Whitney Sanders beat out a pair of Plymouth defenders for a solo goal in the 48th minute to cut the score to 2-1.
ARGOS — Argos started finishing its shots, while Bremen suddenly struggled to do the same, and Plymouth flooded the box and held off Culver's Whitney Sanders as the Lady Dragons and the Rockies both advanced to set up a classic rivalry match-up at the Argos Girls Soccer Sectional Thursday.

After a number of good runs, Jami Patterson broke through for her eighth goal of the season on a Samantha Hopkins cross through the box with under 2 minutes remaining in the first half to give the Dragons a 1-0 halftime lead and the momentum going into the second half.
